make sure both input and output devices are the same. For some reason mine were different and when changed fixed the issue. Persist with the game the machine levels are sick.
Didn't work for me unfortunately. Hopefully they'll patch this soon.
For me the PC speakers work just fine, but the sound cuts off when I use my headphones.
I use a Volkano Rhapsody and Volkano products tends to come with a both a "headphones" and "headset" sound settings (although I think a lot of headset with built-in mics have this)
For me currently it's Headphones (Rhapsody 2.0) and Headset (Rhapsody 2.0 Hands-Free AG Audio).
Switching from "Headphones" to "Headset" mode fixed it for me... buuut headset mode has really crappy audio by comparison.
I had the same problem a while back with CS:GO but an update eventually fixed it, sooo... we wait I guess?
::Edit:: Tried the input trick, that another poster recommended, didn't work either. Also, like another poster mentioned, when you run Quake II, it kills ALL AUDIO, including music or any system sounds. I wonder what triggered this... I'm kinda miffed, after praising how well it was done... now it's FRAKKED...
