There are multiple level editors for quake 2, see here: http://quakewiki.org/wiki/Mapping_tools#General_Purpose_Editors

Wow, thank you. I like the looks of TrenchBoom. Is that any good?

QuArK is the best IMO. But setting it up may be a long and dark process XD

I just want a simple and easy editor for Quake 2.

I'd recommend Trenchbroom which is by far the most modern and most intuitive of the bunch, and it can also be used with Quake 2:

Quark is also good but it's old school and not very easy to learn. If you need some help starting out, Q2 Café is the place to go for mapping tips. We're currently holding a mapping contest on Feb 15th and all mappers are welcome, beginners too! So if you'd like to find out more and learn to use Quark or Trenchbroom join us here:

Heh, I remember back in the day (20 years ago) I used to use Worldcraft 1.6a. Though I know some mappers back then could build an entire level in just Notepad (the .map file is just a plain text file, which is then compiled into a .bsp that the game can work with).

An entire level in notepad? Never thought that would of been possible, that's crazy
