I've put +set game jugfull in the target line of the shortcut. And put Steam.exe into the same folder as the main exe as described on this guide:
https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to-fix-an-application-load-error-50000065434-in-steam/
It loads but it doesn't detect it. I checked the console and it only loaded 5 episodes which is the original game, the new stuff by Machine games the two expansions and Quake II 64. If I don't have Steam.exe in the same folder it comes up with this error:
Steam error
application load error 5:0000065434
Do I load it with the re-release or the original game? Because I don't currently have that working. And I'm not even sure its possible on Windows 11.
Get my repack I linked at the very bottom of the Afterword section of my guide, I have included instructions in the .zip. It is only a map pack with a couple of skins, so it is compatible with the remaster.
I followed the instructions. My command line on the shortcut is:
E:\Steamapps3\steamapps\common\Quake2\quake2.exe +set game canopy
That didn't work so I tried the other way.
I typed game canopy in console. I typed map base1 in console and skill 3 in console. But it just loads the main Quake II campaign. Guess I installed it wrong?
I put the canopy folder in Steamapps3\steamapps\common\quake2\canopy
edit:
I ran the original game from the Steam launch menu. It loads but its stuck to a window. Can't go full screen.
Other than that, you can try loading the mod upon launch instead of switching to it on-the-fly. Add the following as a launch option through Steam's 'Properties' tab for Q2:
+set game canopy
I have re-checked my package, no faults in the setup. It should work.
Sorry about that, is is an oversight on my part. I should have mentioned that in the text file.
On the other hand, the original executable may not work as expected on modern setups without some heavy tinkering. I recommend using either Yamagi QII or Knightmare's Unofficial Patch if you want to go that way.
