No Sound
Does anyone else have issues with the sound in the remaster? I've tried messing with the audio settings on my device to no luck. The audio cuts out the moment the Quake 2 logo disappears.

Yeah I have the exact same issue, haven't found any work around yet

Yeah man I had this problem. My fix was go into sound control panel and then disconnect and then disable hands free audio.

This is an issue with Bluetooth audio. If you are using a headset with a microphone, when the microphone is engaged the Bluetooth device changes the headset to a different device.

You may be able to disable the microphone on the headset, but if not then otherwise you'd simply have to avoid Bluetooth for audio altogether. It's a rather high latency system anyway.

I tried to turn off bluetooth and that didn't work, and I don't even see this hands free audio thing. If I take a screenshot it instantly shuts down any music that's playing. Quake 1 don't do this, this remaster must be in beta form cause its sloppy.

Nothing wrong with the sound effects they work perfect all the time, its just the music, cuts off, has crunchy distortions, its just bad how they handled the soundtrack.

You are reporting an entirely different issue that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. However can say your problem seems to be unique, we've had no report like this before and it doesn't even make any sense given music is pushed through the same audio mixer as all the rest of the sound effects. As it is, it's currently impossible to diagnose your issue as it's not reproducible. This is something only your system can somehow manifest, and you'll need to investigate why.

Why would the regular sound effects be working fine but the music just cuts out randomly? And why are you speaking for other people, I've seen a few posts say the music cuts off randomly. Why are you acting like I have some unique pc that no one in the world owns?

Only my system? I mean it came out of a factory somewhere its not just my system.

Yours is the only one I've seen, nobody has come to us on Discord about such a thing. If other people claim to have this issue as you do, it'd be advisable to compile what is the same between your systems, such as your sound cards and how they are configured.

So what do I do then? Why would the music stop when I do a screenshot?
I mean if I don't even know where to start how do I fix it?

Btw you guys do great work love the shadowman remaster. Best company in gaming I'm a fan and I buy all your products I hope you don't think I'm just trying to bash the remaster.

Its not a big deal anyway, great job on the remaster was waiting 4 years for this just gonna go ahead and unsub now I meant no offense sorry.

This is new information. Taking a screenshot isn't exactly the most complicated thing, but it does suggest that your system is having some kind of bottleneck somewhere that the screenshot pushes it over causing the music thread the give up. What kind of storage do you have, and are you running any kind of malware service that may be stealing disk time? I'm betting the audio streaming is starved for resources and either something in the background is stealing those resources or your storage medium itself is to blame.

This is one of the things I tried. It has solved the same problem before in other games but not here.

I found a fix that worked for me. I have an ASUS Xonar sound card. For some reason, I had to enable the TV as a playback device to get sound from my Xonar, even if I am not using my TV as a playback device. Go figure. Maybe the sound gets looped up and down the HDMI, dont know. But that sorted it for me.

Same issue here. Specific to this game only.

+1 for 2025.

Are you using audio over Bluetooth? If so have you tried disabling handsfree mode?

Bluetooth headphones/headset?
IDK what your OS is, but if you're on WIndows 11 you can try going to
Microphone Privacy Settings
and disallow the game from using the microphone, or totally disallow microphone use for everything
Had this issue with SWAT 4: Stetchkov Syndicate and that fixed it
