Switch Pro button prompts swapped
With a Switch Pro controller, if it says "(B) to action", you have to press (A) and vice-versa. (X) and (Y) are the same way. This prompt swap happens in both the menu prompts and in the bindings. The "Nintendo layout" setting does nothing. If you turn on Steam Controller support, it starts emulating an Xbox controller and the input prompts change, for example ZL and ZR become LT and RT. I'm pretty sure it's not my controller, because other games with native Switch Pro support have the right button prompts, but if I am doing something wrong, please correct me.

It doesn't make the game impossible to play, since the buttons work—if I bind jump to (B), I still jump with (B) even though the menu says (A)—but it seems like you were aiming for native controller support and just missed. The original Quake Enhanced has the same problem (still). I know it's a nitpicky issue to raise, but it also seems like such an easy thing to fix; I imagine it's just a matter of changing the graphics associated with the buttons, right? Is there any hope of this getting fixed?

You can copy files from Quake 2/rerelease/baseq2/pak0.pak/gfx/controller/switch-pro/ and rename them as you want, then create custom Quake 2\rerelease\baseq2\pak1.pak file with renamed files in it.

I appreciate the tip, and I do hope this solution helps people, but I still think the situation needs addressing by the devs. The players shouldn't have to fix their mistakes for them, especially when the mistakes are so easily fixed.

Again, I do appreciate the response; I just don't want to leave the discussion at that, because I don't want the devs to think we should be satisfied with that as a solution. It's an easy fix: please save future users from having to hunt down this post and go through this non-trivial process to address such a simple thing.
