Least favourite fight?
Of all the enemy encounters in any Quake game, which do you like the least?

For me it's the elevator in Thaelite Mines leading towards the exit to the Tectonic Stabiliser. The one where four Flyers break through the walls right next to you, two on each side, as the elevator slowly descends. It's just a little mean!

Incidentally, today I found a shortcut in the Thaelite Mines. You know the room in which you kill the Tank Commander and obtain the Security Pass? There's a damaged non-functioning door in this room. Shoot the yellow beams to the left of the door and it blasts open the wall, revealing a shortcut to where you need to use the Security Pass. There, that's a thing you know now.

Not much comes to mind but maybe OG Makron? Jorg looks cool but disappears in an instant if you use Chaingun even without any power-ups and the guy itself can be kited and killed with a Blaster. Kind of a letdown.

The mine area where there's a hallway with a rocket launcher and explosions coming from the walls. You get surrounded by high level enemies and reload your save many times.

I know the one. It's not a bad idea to stay back and splash-damage the enemies in the hallway at the end so you can deal with them before you run through the explosions.

The remaster changes that area a little bit, by the way; makes it a little easier, in my opinion.

I'd like to see the Makron get the same "copy your power-up" ability the Black Widow Guardian has. Plus give him a power shield, why wouldn't he have one of all the Strogg?

The two large obstacles in the centre of the arena could be continually lowering and raising to remove your cover, maybe. Ground Zero turrets appearing at intervals. Something like that.

If I recall correctly the remaster makes it so the Gladiator up ahead patrols around along a route where he passes by where you can see him, so you can wait for him to pass and shoot him to get his attention before you cross the explosion... I think I was able to kill one or two Gunners as well with the rocket launcher, they lurk behind the walls/pillars.

Probably in Call Of The Machine, I think the level is called Ruined Earth? There's a flying boss that drops off Flyers, and Mutants will come out eventually as well. After that, you fight a handful of Soldiers and a Megatank, followed by a Supertank and two normal Tanks. All of that, with the only checkpoint being after you've killed that first aforementioned boss. It's a bit too much.

I'm not a fan of the whole concept of ceiling mounted gun turrets in Ground Zero. They don't add anything interesting to the gameplay.

Call of the Machine is actually quite good as whole, but I have to admit that there is way too many Mutant at once in certain maps, and Super Tank is also overused as boss.
If I remember correctly, both Hornet and Carrier are used only two or three times as boss in the entire CotM.
Super Tank however, is about twice in each unit.

Both Carrier and Hornet feel more threatening than good old Super Tank, to be fair. The latter learned to fire its missiles in a spread and the former spams Flyers which seem ti be more aggressive in the Remaster.

Super Tank actually got nerfed in the remaster; its chaingun used to be deadly accurate at any range, it was quite unique among all the machineguns/chainguns of the Strogg. Now it's mostly avoidable by strafing just like all the others

Yeah, it also got a grenade attack which I’d say is a nerf overall since it rarely is effective in big open arenas where you mostly face those beasts.

I mean, the way it was used in the OG you always had plenty of cover so it was never a problem.

Every long, straight hallway that ends with you encountering a Gladiator or a Brain, then a wall behind you opens disgorging three Parasites.

When I went through this level in co-op the flyers somehow got out early and caused the elevator to stop working by getting stuck under it.

Something about the Operation Wasteland mission in Call of the Machine. I DONT KNOW what it is at all. Something about the level design and the encounters just annoyed me in that one compared to all the other ones and all of Quake 2 honestly. In particular the flying garbage cleaner and the final tank commander boss sucked. The other 5 were all good though and had a blast. It is definetly not like it was outright terrible, just something about this one did not click with me. It is still more Quake 2 and enjoyable enough. I actually do not even get why I did not like this one very much either. Would have to replay it but I wont :HELLSLAYER:
