so i don't know if there would just be some kind of tools already in existence that someone could just plug into q2 right after launch, or if they would have to make something custom for q2, or if that would even be hard to do since it seems like a lot of the source code and tools to make stuff for q2 are out there.
but i will say i had someone hitting me with a chaingun from positions where it felt like it should be impossible. i would be running down a hallway, the other guy in a room where i'm running AWAY from, and i take a corner at the other end of the hallway and i'm somehow still getting shot. the guy did not chase me around the corner and was still down the other end of the hallway. this map did have windows and things in places, connecting areas, but i couldn't see where those bullets could have been coming from.
it was just the two of us and this happened maybe 4 or 5 times in the match.
i don't know if it was cheating or the guy was just more familiar with the map but it seemed wild. i was wondering if it could've been just a buggy/lag related thing too.
Although there are many pros too: people that know the maps, how to dominate the item spawns and that will kill you pretty fast using a Rail Gun, a BFG or a Quad Damage. More often than not, those are the culprits of getting decimated lol.
Back then it was common for people to pickup the quad and invulns right when they spawned by just using a stop watch (bound to a key) and running the levels in a sort of optimized circle. This was after the release of the deathmatch maps. That's all people played after those were released in a major update.
I don't know what the new MP experience is like (especially with cross-play). The remake is silky smooth in the single player game, so a veteran would surely dominate. My modern mouse and ping will surely provide an advantage since I was using a ball mouse for a time back then. This mouse had a mechanical ball inside it that required cleaning on a regular basis. And the rollers.
Im not saying that cheats don't exist in this game, but these players are simply legends. I dont know what multiplayer games you play, but in Quake it means nothing and you dont stand a chance against anyone at a good level without hundreds of hours of practice.
I have only played Doom16 MP, and i am only average at that.
Not sure if they have aim assist or if that's just automatic with console games. The aim assit is retarded overpowered in some games like COD MW2. It tracks you like an aimbot for pc even through walls
