Quake2xp Tutorial?
Does anyone know of a link to a video tutorial on how to install the xp mod? I'm new to this kind of stuff and don't want to mess anything up. I've tried searching YouTube and Google and haven't been able to find any detailed installation information. Thanks! :)

Video tutorial? Are you sure?))) Download last release from modDB, unpack in to quake2 folder and install openAL drivers (from openal folder)

Yup.

Just extract the whole thing inside your Quake 2 folder. If, like with the GOG release, music is not working with the mod installed. Or if you cannot lower music volume. Just go in your Quake 2 directory and look for the music folder. Transfert it into your baseq2 directory and go in option. Switch music from CD-ROM to internal files. Restart your game / reload it. Then the music slider should work.

Then, again, I own the GoG version... So you might not have the same issues as me when trying to properly run it.

The music is, IMO, a big part of the game. :) And having it disabled due to a non-working volume slider is butchering it.

Also, no offense meant, RTFM. Installation instructions are well detailed for that mod.

I keep trying but extraction fails.

(I have removed Win XP compatibility for Q2 application launch.)

Yeah I downloaded and extracted all the files into my Quake II folder and it doesn't work. My quake II just doesn't open and doesn't even give me an error. Disappointing.

I have a qusetion. I am at wits end with trying to get weapon models to work.
So here is everything I've done so far.
I've completely deleted Quake 2 folder in Steam. I reinstalled Quake 2, unzip only Q2xpBeta into Quake 2 folder, run it. Only models that aren't dated are the pistol and the grenade launcher.

Is this normal?
So, after that I tried to install the 'Remodel Quake Weapons' no luck either, same thing, pistol and grenade launcher only. I have no idea what is blocking the weapon models from working. Everything is in their proper models/weapons folder and everything. I've must have reinstalled 3 or 4 times now to wipe everything clean and start again still have no idea what is blocking the weapon models and texture.

All is so easy.
We install original q2 (steam or gog or from CD-ROM (full install + 3.20 patch) )
Next we install openal drivers
After that, we unpak q2xp128beta in to your q2 folder.
This identical with any q2 mods-engines installation process.
About new models - you can download 'Remodel Quake Weapons'
unzip archive in to 'baseq2\models\weapons' folder

i get the same openal error.

Can you formulate the problem more precisely? So far it sounds like this - "the doctor does not understand what hurts! It's okay, I will prescribe you some pills"
