The devs need to actually fix the issues with the game before trying to do dlc on top of a half-baked system.

They're aware of the issues but prioritized a dlc over fixes. Sure maybe it's a need for funding to be able to do things, but it feels more like backers getting special treatment and mismanagement.

-The game is like and ecchi/h-game but not really. Like it's very very tame with minimal content as a payoff. It doesn't go far enough if it wants to be an h/ero game as it's super tame. And as an ecchi fanservice Yuri game there is still just so little content that it doesn't really deliver on this outside of 'technically' checking the boxes. Like 'here's a lewd image, that's good enough right'?

-It's an action roguelike, but not as crisp and fluid as something like hades or Holocure or anything like that. It adds jumping but doesn't integrate it well, has multiple weapons that all feel generic and samey, and lets you change your character skin essentially at the start of runs, minorly changing stats if I recall correctly, but not really feeling like 'this is a new character'. It's bland, theres no real progression through a run like real powerups as most of those are relegated to food or upgrades externally (and also very bland and unexciting).
Combat is clunky and unfun, and doesn't feel rewarding. Completing a stage is unsatisfying because again, no powerups going into the next stage, and mediocre payoff in the hub.

-The dating sim elements aren't really fleshed out at all. Yes the girls look nice, but they're basically eye candy. This isn't a game that's leaned into any of the genres its aiming for in a satisfying way imo. We don't have really satisfying relationship progression at all, theres no dating or hanging out, and the town is very generic and boring. Even if you went about building it up, there is no payoff. No automation to help your grinding, not hangout spots, nothing here to payoff the ideas of 'grindy town builder action roguelike' or 'yuri ecchi harem game'.


Ultimately the game needs a few MAJOR changes for me to recommend it.
1- First and foremost the actual gameplay loop needs to be improved. Let each character have strengths, abilities, weak points, so I actually have a reason to switch beyond generic stat differences. Secondly, weapons shouldn't be change on the fly, the whole inventory system is a mess and in general should be refined imo to a loadouts system and backpack that will hold all your resources like in a hades or holocure, etc. The weapons also need to feel unique. Unique hit chains, unique specials, unique movement tech, unique ariel attacks (which if you're going to have jumping you should put it into your combat since you already have to jump to get over enemies quite often), etc etc. Finally in this overhaul the augments the player can get should be more of a passive meta progression thing, with actual roguelike progression built into the runs rather than weirdly outside of them. It's silly and while sure, it could be implemented with the load outs as well, either way the system generally needs a thorough change to improve it, and it needs to generally feel like the player is getting unique powerups as they go through runs, be it hero specific, weapon specific, unique, etc.
Armor in general I think should probably just be shifted to purely focused on cosmetics unless you want to go to the souls like system of slow rolling or fast dodging, either way I think this is the lowest in terms of issues compared to the other things.

2- There needs to be better reason to build up the town. Take a game like Coral Island for example, everything you're doing earns you income, or improves the town rank etc. Sure that game isn't perfect, but that feeling of 'what I am doing is going towards SOMETHING' generally was lacking here across the board.
Definitely needs major improvements, be it interactive locations for dates, meta progression dumping spots, loot grinders, or building hubs that NPCs will occasionally travel to and interact with like a pub or whatever. Right now they are all stuck around their homes for the most part and the player interacts with them rather minimally outside of mediocre narrative events.
Definitely needs A LOT of work to improve the romance if they want this to be a yuri harem game, cause right now it feels more like a bunch of people who are okay with each other and occassionally chat, rather than anything else.
Hangouts, dates, even simply walking around together would all be improvements. They could make affinity be earnable by playing the character or chatting with them (assuming this is a type of system they would opt for, there are many ways to try and going about it affinity like a mastery system, heart events, etc). Rewards with character power ups, pinups, all sorts of things could be implemented to fully deliver on this, but haven't really been.

Overall, I don't recommend Gray Haven atm because it's a mess and while the devs seem to say they want to address these issues, they've also prioritized DLC over doing so. So no, I don't recommend this game right now.

If/when the game gets updates, I'll come back to it and potentially change the review/update. Hopefully with good news as I do like the idea in premise- just it's a mess of a game right now that fails to deliver in any sort of satisfying ways.
