I have this experience too. I have followed the instructions and it has not fixed the issue.
Here's what I do -
Tell steam to launch game
smaller window comes up with logo :)
Left and right screen flicker back and forth between each other
Game starts minimized on task bar, like I hear music, but clicking on the task bar makes screen 1 black for a moment and... well it goes back to the task bar :(

I have an ultrawide monitor and a secondary monitor for drawing, could that be the problem?

Hmm, possibly that could be it...is there any way to try on one monitor, or a different monitor?
