How to read constellations of stars?

I found something what is called an observatory, I think. It shows me some constellation of stars. But when i am back in cockpit and try to find the constellation on the map, it is impossible for me to bring the shown stars in the right angle. Is there a way to read the star constellations. Must I fly to a specific place were the angle is right?
