(please don't be mad at me)
It's absolutely not a problem. To use, say, Quakespasm in order to play AD, you should download those and unzip them in the Quake directory. Then, you launch Quakespasm and type "game ad" in the console (you can bring up the console by pressing \ ). Then you'll be good to go!
(I'm not super literate on Quake source ports myself, but this is the way I play mods and it works!)
The Spiked version of QS and plain vkquake are better, IMO.
Yeah, and as much much as I love Arcane Dimensions, sadly I doubt Arcane Dimensions will ever become an official addon any time soon, just because of the sheer amount of stolen content it has. As it ranges from textures and sounds, to entire models, enemies and even code. The only way for it to ever become official would be if it got a MASSIVE overhaul to replace all the textures of entire levels as most levels are composed of only stolen textures. Then you would have to replace all the stolen models with new ones, redesign entire enemies that are from other games, and ask permission to use the stolen code to all the people that originaly wrote them. All of that is honestly a lot of work that is virtually impossible to do unless he gets a LOT of help, as again, most levels are made with stolen assets. And not to mention that a few levels will have to be simplified a little as Arcane Dimensions was designed for Source Ports like Quakespasm that disables the polycount & map size limit that the original Quake had and that sadly this remaster also has (in case you were wondering why if you play Arcane Dimensions through the remaster, certain levels will make the game crash upon starting).

When I said that most won't lose any sleep over something like this, the love for this project here, supports my view. Nobody is worried about plagiarism, and play it anyway. The reason you may never see something large or complex as an addon to the remaster, is because it's weak, as far as packet handling goes. It may be the weakest aftermarket engine of all time in this area. I never heard of automatic patents, when it comes to texture creation. In my new map, the only textures I used that are not native to Quake 1, are skip textures. I'm safe here, because you cannot see them. So NOBODY will ever know they are there. What a relief!
