I like it? Kinda. I think ill stay with the sourceports.
The remaster is cool if you want to play with friends tho. Much easier.
Can you bind keys in this remaster version like OG Quake?
Does GOG Quake version have original or has not been updated as of today 8/19/2021?
We all know source-ports and mods are where it's at, but I think the changes are good and the option to play the new version or our custom "old" version is excellent.
1. Yes
2. Someones said that you cant bind keys
3. Idk
Do you mean coop or deathmatch? Though there are different sourceports that are much better for each (QuakeSpasm-Spike for coop and EZQuake/Nquake for deathmatch).
Or you mean finally play with console-only friends? :D
I'm sure the new expansion is decent and playing the 64 version is worth it, but everything else is pointless.
Why would you want to? Trying to play Quake with a controller is blasphemy.
Source ports were all that was needed. This "improved remaster" by Nightdive studios is a total embarassment. Reminds me of that one 'If Quake was made today' video.
So while neither GOG or Steam are going to be as good as having an original physical copy, GOG does at least go a step further including the original DOS version which also has the original music. So for those purists looking for a more authentic original version, GOG has you covered.
I don't know if the GOG version has the remaster yet though.
