the idea is cute and graphics wise it has a nice drawn comic feel with slight nostalgic notes, but there are
a lot of places where it lacks enough clues as to what you are supposed to do next and you are limited to doing things in the exact order (even where tasks are not connected).

the racist 'comic relief' leprechaun was a surprise, and therefore the generically 'asian garden' was less shocking. I stopped thereafter.

This point and click game has very poor quality of life features, it gives you a hint button that doesn't give you hints, and the game never once has dialogue that tells you why a certain item doesn't work, It's always just the generic "It doesn't work" dialogue.

had to get a stone and then play with crayons in the right order to get the right combination of crayon, gunpowder and carrot, how is this normal.

I thought the game would be short and fun... but dialog, traveling(unintuitive map), micro-pause system is insane! The game made for people with high brain ping! I am just smashing Skip dialog button trying to progress... achievements are HARDCORE LOL Beat everyone in stupid card game, 1000 clicks, collect 1000 dews I feel like I am stuck here forever

Even its' Quartet mini-game is better than the game itself

I wanted to love this game with its charming graphics and amazing voice actors, but puzzles. This is why I flat out loathe the point and click genre. The puzzles run on insanity logic until the end of the game then they get to be easy enough that it's borderline insulting. And it doesn't help that the Advice seeker spell which should give you a hint doesn't work. I'm not into force every option until something happens game design which is why I used a guide when I got stuck. And boy, did I get stuck a lot. I will say that's it a bit better than Deponia with its puzzles.

The characters are awesome except Jerry who is just a bland little boy. Maybe, he would have gotten better in the sequel but alas, that's not going to happen anytime soon. Sadly, no more adventures with my favorite character Marquis de Hoto since the studio closed.

The ending is okayish but sorta rushed at the same time.

If you're honestly curious about this game then do get it on sale and have a guide handy if you get stuck.

Now that it's been a day after I beat the game is when I realized that the plot is just messy and rushed. There's no buildup to Zaroff being the bad guy, the clone of Marquis de hoto, and Jerry's dad being forgotten. And why was Jerry not talking about the creepy lizards plotting to anyone at like all to the Marquis and his friend? It's an issue that I had with Eastward where weird stuff happened but the protagonist never bothered to tell anyone about for reasons.

I get the developers were trying to play the creeping darkness overtaking the childish world plot but it doesn't work. Your actions in Mousewood don't progress the plot until you hit the last spell where the creeping darkness becomes a flood that no one notices until the final bow.

If I was to fix the plot then I would keep Zaroff as the Marquis' apprentice who is working with crows to overthrow Mousewood or something, cut Jerry's dad along with the lizards Squamata, and get rid of the Marquis' clone plotline. If you wanted to keep the title of the cold one for the Marquis then have him deceive Jerry by not telling him that learning spells in those new worlds made them closed off to the portal network or something? Or have him not bother to tell Jerry that he's never going home since he's a Treewalker that needs to save the world?

I would cut some of the puzzles from the game to make it more easier for the younger audience and advice seeker spell would work to give you fewer hints if you have the difficulty slider on. And a skip this puzzle option too.
