Worth buying for first time playing ITR?
I am a avid Stalker Fan. Is this worth buying now for my first ITR experience?

I've had loads of fun with it as an ITR veteran and I'm sure as a newcomer to ITR you could find the same.

But there's some caveats. For me and plenty others, the game runs smooth as butter. But there's also plenty of people who are having technical trouble with it. It seems to depend on your rig, your particular headset, and whatever way you use to connect it to your PC (I'm on a Q3 using Steamlink).

And the game is in early access, it has a long way to go. You'll find a nicely fleshed out experience, but a lot of content is missing, including enemies, weapons, maps, certain mechanics, and the story. If you jump into ITR2 now, be ready to follow the developers along the path ahead. Or alternatively, put some nice hours into it now and then place it in the fridge until it's done.

Having said all that, it's already a heck of a title, probably my favourite VR game even now.

I'd say you're better off getting the original game first. It's fully developed and feature complete, and there's even mods available on Nexus that can make it feel a bit more like Stalker. Still jank in a lot of ways, but currently ITR2 is not much better in my opinion.

both great if you want co-op get 2 but be prepared for early access jank if you just want story and to play get the first game and wait a bit for the second to come along as the second only has 2 areas and no story yet but the first game is complete

I would also advise you on the first part. The game is ready, has a plot and is also cheaper. There are many mechanics that are better in the second part, but the game is not finished yet. It's still quite a while until the beginning of 2026.

I very much say the same and advice to play the first before this.
Is a great game and if you enjoy it, it will keep you busy for a lot of time even after the story. Meanwhile the sequel will get updates and stuffs, so even better later on if you choose to play the second too.

Hold off on this one for now. DEFINITELY get the first, and also check out the Z.O.N.A. games. The second one is in EA but that's pretty much the closest you're gonna get to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
If you are looking for the Stalker VR then this is it. But I recommend you play the 1st one before the 2nd as it is more flushed out and complete.
Get the first one. It's actually a complete game. It's like the devs forgot everything they learned during the first one's development when they started working on the second one lol
In my experience: For first time playing ITR, asolutly not! I recommend to play Into the Radius 1 first. For ITR2 I would say, play it 1-2 years after it got a lot more (especially) performance updates.

I would caution against buying this game until it's out of early access. There were many complaints about ITR 1 and over and over we were told by the developer and many of the more defensive fans "b-but it's not done yet! Just wait! You don't know that they won't fix issue X, Y, and Z!" That kind of talk went on until the very day the game went 1.0, and now ITR 1 is set in stone the way it is, blemishes and all.

If ITR 2 goes the same way then the developers will be obtuse and not receptive to specific feedback, the hardcore fans will defend all issues the game has, and we'll have another half-baked VR game to add to the pile. World goes around and we do this all over again soon.

I'm a hardcore fan of the first one (100% and still play it from time to time) and you are absolutely right about this!! The second one is kinda garbage and feels completely different from the first. Like I've said in another post, this game feels like a Fallout 3 compared to the first one being like a fallout 1/2. Even with all of it's jankiness, they both have their charms but the second one is like a dumpster fire anymore and seems to be getting worse. there's a ton of issues that they just seem to not even give two shts about fixing. The art direction seems to be all over the place (The eyesores of anomalies... I'm looking at you), and there's not even anything of storytelling. Me, personally, I don't think they even have an idea on what the story will be. This game was presented and sold on the notion of a multiplayer version of the first one and, from what I've been reading, the multiplayer is more of a game of attrition than anything else.
With all the negatives aside, I do wish this company well and I do hope they expand on the game and make it really good! I'd like to have typed "Amazing" but I know better. They already made their money from this still being in EA so they could tell us all to go kick dirt.... I mean, the writing is on the wall that they kinda stopped keeping the community in the loop since it's been so long since their last update and lack of interaction with any of these boards.

I went from manic excitement sleeplessly awaiting I2TR to barely having even a fleeting interest now.
I see to many of the same worrisome problems that were in ITR in I2TR that leaves me concerned since they were never fixed.
I might buy it at some point if it's under $10 but it looks like a sad copy of ITR and everything is still broken.
But it has co-op...

Good call!!! Try out the Z.O.N.A series to itch that stalker scratch until this thing gets to a suitable state. This thing is a massive mess that won't be fixed anytime soon.
I found a post last night after typing my last comment that the developer was asking people about what they'd like to see for a storyline so I was right! Yay (and boo) to validation!!!

I tryied the first Z.O.N.A game and encountered several game breaking bugs already in the tutorial, so i'm pretty sure Is not like those games are in a better state or a competitive alternative.
