You can 100% copyright an idea, depends on how elaborate it is. You can't copyright a peanut on it's own, but if you have an idea about a story of a peanut that is an astronaut on the moon and has furball friends which have a big ass and dance to techno music in track suits, chances are no one thought of this specific thing before, and since it's never been done, you would have some sort of credit to this if someone somehow just thought of the same thing within a span of a few years, when no one has done anything else with it for hundreds.

I guess what I'm saying, it would be pretty hard to argue the many consistencies this game has with fortnite. No way he could argue he just thought up the building system, right?

Poor gunplay & animations. Lack of any anti-cheat. Low poly assets from the POLYGON Series. Im sure Epic are real worried lol. Can never see this game hitting over 1k players. And i know lots play using the website. But even if 1% of the so called *80 million players* switched to steam it would be 800k. Still its free i guess.....but so is Fortnite :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

The so called 80 mil is a joke on fortnite's playerbase too. I too don't think epic cares about this, but if they gave a single damn, this would vanish instantly.

Wtf happening here, I was just making a joke

You can make a similar game nobody has the rights to an idea. Use your brains games has been copy and paste for years. Rather ppl play this game or not nothing will happen to them legally

As previously said, copy isn't illegal, but overdoing it might get dangerous legally if there're people who really want to give you a bad day.

I think there was a clone of Valorant from Netease that was really, really dang similar in every point, and they were forced to close due to pressure from Riot

Might depend on the country tho... I think Riot wanted to go all-in against Mobile Legends, but the Chinese laws kept it alive.

BR is a concept in itself. Fortnite was considered a PUBG knockoff when it released it's BR mode. Wanna argue the building was enough to set it apart? Then Fortnite no build mode is a complete knock off of PUBG. The OP wasn't serious and it's sad you guys are taking it serious with such bad takes.

First I was just explaining how a simple idea can't be copyrighted(like a br mode) but how a more complex idea can. Reality is, when fortnite came out, people did call out fortnite for being like pubg, aka a br game, but you can't copyright that, in the same way you couldn't copyright puzzle games as a whole. It just sounds dumb. I gave a good example above with the peanut. Something so simple cannot be copyrighted, you'd have no argument. When it's a much more complex idea, you do.

Second, I'm not taking it very seriously, I already said I know epic wouldn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about a game with basically no players, inferior in every single aspect. I just explained that if they did, it would vanish. My guess is no one at epic will ever see this, especially someone relevant, and even if they did, it's a pretty cool demo for a kid to make on his own, so he might even land a job with it. There is no shot epic is going to spend their time and resources to shut down 1 project someone made for fun and which they provide for free(although it has inapp purchases and I assume that's how he plans to make his revenue, although I hope people don't actually spend their money in this lmao)

It has nothing to do with it just being a BR, there's a ton of br games out there. The building system is copy pasted out of fortnite. The available buildings are the same, still a 9 block panel, with the same editing options, the hud is copy pasted. The inventory system is again copy pasted, same amount of slots, etc. Emote wheel is the same. Sure the visuals are different, they're Polygon assets from the unity marketplace.

To say this isn't copying fortnite makes no sense. Like it doesn't look like apex, pubg, warzone, spellbreak, fall guys, ring of elysium, csgo's dangerzone br, etc. It doesn't look like any of those, but this screams a specific game, aka fortnite, but in a much lower quality of course.

This is okay, because looking at everything overall(I haven't played it), chances are the dev just wanted to push themselves to see if they can make a fortnite clone by themselves. And it's alright. Probably has no anticheat, the optimization is probably dogwater compared to fortnite despite using low poly count models and everything else, but for a project this is cool I'd say. It is a fortnite clone. Kinda like all those minecraft clones you can find everywhere on the internet. I'm sure roblox has a fortnite clone, and epic isn't going after roblox. Because these games don't really compete with fortnite. There's nothing that fortnite doesn't do better already, it;s been out for like 6 years already.
