2.8 hours into game. Second nightmare scenario, picked up wooden wheel picked up plank. when I try to pair plank with wheel all I get is a blank box with a red x in the top right corner. When I click on the box the game freezes, I ctl alt escape click the close window, restart the game and the problem repeats....

I like games that have automatic speech progression when there's a discussion with an NPC. BUT when you have that the "Continue" button is not needed and causes issues. If you're having an automatically progressed discussion and you accidentally press "Continue" when a character is about to automatically say the next line, it causes that character to SKIP WHAT THEY WERE ABOUT TO SAY AND JUMP TO THEIR NEXT LINE OF SPEECH.
