What weapons should I buy? (Low level Excalibur)

I am currently a level 7 Excalibur with approximately 65k credits. The gear I started with isn't all that great after a while and I want to upgrade it. However, I want to upgrade it and keep it for a little while so I can worry about figuring out the game more in depth, I don't necessarily want the best stuff, just the next step above the starting gear.

Right now I am playing with:
Warframe: Excalibur
Prirary weapon: Mk1 Braton
Secondary weapon: Lato (pistol)
Melee: MK1-BO

Any ideas on what weapons I should buy?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

get the braton from the store, it's a straight upgrade from the mk-1, it will do nicely, until you can get better gear

Depends on your play style. Personnally, I spared to get the Vectis sniper rifle 'cause I love this kind of gun.
But the Braton is a good choice since it is very polyvalent.

you should still finish to lvl up your weapon until lvl 20 to get rank lvl :p

Are you modding properly? Because even the mk1 braton can be useful if it's modded.

That said: since you are starting out, get the braton.

As for other primaries I would recommend the attica, quanta and soma (in order of mastery level) as great investments to build.

I am not a fan of the lato, it just never gets very good. The Lex on the other hand can be built to do damage that will still scale well in to late game also going from lex to Aklex is fairly cheap. The magnus and later the Akmagnus are super solid weapons that never really lose potency and can be built in to crit, status or both to suit your taste.

For Melee, try to get a Serro, it takes no forma to get a full build on it and it's always good, right up there with far more expensive weapons.

I'd suggest getting either Braton, Boltor, Latron, Karak or Grakata as all of those are very reliable low level guns that will carry you into pretty much end tier with proper modding. Granted, you will want to switch (of course) at one point.

Would also help to know your Mastery Rank. It's separate from your frame's level and can be found in the upper left corner, next to your profile image.

New excalibur here too, and its more about the mods than any weapon(s).

Just build yourself a cronus when you get the blueprint from Mercury's boss mission, and then mods, mods mods. You will have everything you need, up until later stages.

Between Radial blind, radial javelin, and exalted blade that turns your melee into a ranged weapon, you even forget you have a rifle.

Spending credits going from mk1 to braton or 50k for lex will do little to nothing for a lowbie excalibur. Use those 65k fusing mods for your melee, or warframe.

The Karak has higher base damage all around, but the Braton has higher crit chance, however useless as that is, being only 10%, and the Braton is easier to obtain as you just buy it compared to crafting the Karak. However, the Braton is not objectively better than the Karak, as the Karak is better in all three base damage stats and has a faster fire rate, with the same accuracy stat.

Double mag size means dps is higher, so I think it balances out. I'd take Braton

The Braton is not great but it's cheap and easy to get.

The karak is just... not great.
