Firefall, a Free To Play Massively Multiplayer Online Shooter, was, on the surface, a very successful game.

Over 100.000 active players daily on Steam, bigger and bigger and more and more expensive updates every few months that included new resources, currencies, story, modes, items, instances, and even zones.

Never the less, after a few years, the developers would slow down and then stop the updates, resulting in a massive player loss and shut down.

So, why did it stop with its massive updates and then shut down on July 7, 2017 after the lead creator Mark Kern would leave in 2013?

Well, simple. Even though it was successful on the surface, it was not making money.

While they had over 100.000 players daily, over 95% of them spent little or no money. The salutation of Red5 was to make every update have more items that required more expansive currencies and resources that, while easier to farm, required more time to build up. Believing that the players would spend money on time savers and skips to the rewards.

The problem was that the players had a mentality...

Got Mine Screw You

That meant that, while the content was extremely boring and grindy, players would be okay with going through it if it meant getting the item they wanted for free.

Add to that that over 90% of the content for each new update was just extremely easy with zero consequences grindfest, and you can see why the majority of players didn't feel like spending money.

Not to mention, the cosmetics were rarely bought, as seeing a thumper skin (the game's main method of grinding resources) was a rare sight.

So, how does it relate to Warframe?

Every new update is bigger and more expensive than the last, with new resources, currencies, story, modes, items, instances, and even zones, but over 90% of it is extremely easy with zero consequences, which is just a very simple grindfest content for rewards.

Not to mention, content releases are slowing down, and the big developer streams are becoming rarer than before.

At the end, before Firefall would shut down, it would have only a few players standing on a bridge waiting for an NPC to kill a bug, so they could earn a little experience every few seconds.

Umm.

A fresh new level 1 steam account posting the same thread. Totally not a troll on an alt account.

I'm not sure why remaking the same pointless doompost was something you thought was a good idea, but it's still not accurate; Warframe is nigh-unplayable without spending a hefty amount of platinum on essentials like Slots. the platinum you'll be spending will be payed for, either by yourself or by someone else though player-economy trading.
pretty much everyone playing the game knows this, it's why everyone has called out this doompost as obvious bait.

Where to spend Red Beans?
You can spend Red Beans on the in-game Store, finishing Printer jobs, upgrading your inventory and changing your perks. You can also sell them on the Marketplace or buy Gold Tokens for the Vending Machine.

So what? It's a system that seems far better than overmonetising stuff and locking stuff that has an actual impact on gameplay behind paywalls that you need to pay real-world money for. I like that you can earn everything that has a gameplay impact through gameplay (and then trading the stuff you earned through gameplay with other players, getting the currency to buy the stuff in return).

Red Beans can also be bought buy converting Crystite into Credits (25 000 crystite = 1000 credits) which then you can buy red beans on the market roughly 100 credits each. So 25 000 Crystite can get you 10 red beans. Players can earn roughly 25k crystite in about a week. So in 17 weeks you could buy the red bean LGV.
From the Firefall's wiki page on Red Beans

1b - Marketplace
Alternatively, you can buy Red Beans in the Marketplace (Currency Exchange) from other players, using Credits (the market in-game currency).
From the Red Beans (and Store) guide

Crystite is a mineral used as the most basic currency in the game and also as a power source.

Almost any activity that you participate in will give you Crystite in some quantity, and most of the purchases you make that are directly tied to your progression will require it.
The mineral can be obtained by killing enemies, refining raw minerals (unavailable in Update 1.6), thumping, completing world events, instanced missions, ARES jobs, ARES missions and through Daily Login Rewards.

Crystite crystals can be found in the open world, but only as decoration. They can be seen in Copacabana, Trans-hub and Sunken Harbor inside generators, showing they are a power source in the world.

the minority vocal portion of the fanbase lashing out at any departure from the stale gameplay loop is depressing.

we should be glad that warframe is warframe where micro transactions are optional and not like destiny 2 with its myriad of dlc´s who cost far to much for what they provide
