So Protea and Mesa are among the top choices for me. It also depends on your helminth choices.
Everywhere you can use both a companion and operator you can outsource so much utility to just those two things that you don't really need a jack of all trades frame.
For general solo "tank" frame I switched from the likes of Rhino/Nezha to Voruna. Because she gets movement/parkour speed and stealth along with infinite energy, is pretty much unkillable and gets huge damage buffs (albeit only for melee). I also find her much more fun to play.
your warframe is only a small part, nowadays it's all about your subsume, arcanes, more arcanes and even more arcanes, obscure mods and interactions and your operator stuff
Volt as has already been mentioned is also a pretty good all rounder as he has a dedicated support ability that's quite solid, he's got an AoE nuke ability that also gives him tons of extra survivability and he of course has the shield for damage output and his 1 is a good candidate for replacing with anything you like.
Almost any frame that's a good all rounder happens to also have one ability that you can pretty easily choose as the one to get rid of, which makes them even more invaluable as a versatility driver because you can put whatever is needed to fix their minor weaknesses and buff their strengths.
Has a single damage skill with light CC, shield and armor strip, a self heal, a team wide energy recovery, team survivability buffs, and an AC130 aoe damage that has the potential to OUTHEAL Trin (Trin needs a buff).
Next, the moment you go past lvl 180 Steel Path and beyond - there is no “jack of all trades”, you have to specialize already. Armor striping, viral-slash mass priming, AOE crowd control, i-frames, shield-gating, adaptation and other dmg reduction stuff… Some frames can do some of those things on their own. Other frames can use subsumed abilities to do that and then use the rest of their own kit on top. But not all are equal at this point anymore…
Because yes, some frames these days start to fall behind and are in dire need of help - rework/revisit to their own base kits and stats.
As other said, Wukong is the best choice
