XAudio2 file missing? HELP MEEEE

Living in a third world country with crappy internet i waited 2 days for downloading this game. After completion, when i started the game.exe. I'm greeted with a crapton of updates. And now when i was all set to finally PLAY the game. XAudio2 file is missing. Download the latest version of DirectX9. Well Thanks Warframe!!+

I'm running this game on Windows 10 and yea i know its crappy.

DX9 support ended recently. Upgrade to DX10 and verify game files.

You should have DX10 automatically if your PC supports it and is able to run the game.

You should try verifying the files via the game's launcher. Never ever verify them through Steam, especially with your connection!

I did install this earlier. Still didn't help

Guys! Just a reminder. This is what the error says
"Could not initialize XAudio2. You must install the latest version of DirectX 9 runtime"

I wish people would stop saying this like they have an easy answer. A problem such as this effects a fraction of a fraction of the player base. Hence, a hiercharchy forms to what bugs they can deal with in time. Just be patient, they'll fix it if they can.


If you're having this issue, either upgrade your pc, as it's under spec, or download the neccesary drivers.

Might try running the directx redistributable manually from the common steamworks location. I trust that download to have the right stuff in it. Some of the directx links from searching could be older copies.

Run as administrator on this

Running into the same issue. Running DX setup isn't helping either.

"Could not initialize XAudio2. You must install the latest version of DirectX 9 runtime."

Makes no sense if they no longer support DX9, why is the launcher telling us to install DX9?

MoBo: z370 Killer SLI/ac
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
DirectX Ver: DirectX12

Is it just that DX12 not being backwards compatible? Trying to install DX10 or DX11 isn't working, even with clean install.

Windows 10 comes pre-installed with DX12 version. IDK what exactly they did in this version but somehow some DX9 file like this xaudio one is not included in the DX12 package. Maybe they consider it obsolete or something.

You cannot install DX9 on win 10 pc because it says you already have the latest version. What Steam does is that it installs directx setup files into the game directory. I tried that for this game too but that doesn't work either.

Try running this game on a Win 7 PC.
