You didn't build the Mausolon, you built a necromech which happened to come with a Mausolon with a preinstalled gravimag in order for it to be able to shoot it

then how am I able to equip cortege as a heavy weapon if it doesn't have a gravimag?

Cortege seems to have gravimag pre-installed when you claim it. But it seemed to be bugged if you intend to use catalyst on it, it will prompt you to install a gravimag instead.

Wiki note said that installing the gravimag on Cortege will act the same as catalyst.
