That said, I haven't bothered getting any of them yet. Too much effort for too little reward/yield.
My 2nd Umbra Forma was put onto Mirage Prime, simply because she's a great frame and I wanted to have as much space for her diverse build options.
My 3rd Umbra Forma was put onto Zephyr Prime. Yeah, I said it, Zephyr Prime. Bet none of you saw that one coming coming!! Frankly speaking, Zephyr is a frame I have a lot of fun playing, so I thought "may as well".
Lastly... dude... there's nothing to regret about putting an Umbra Forma on Chroma (well, other than the fact that it's super unnecessary). As much as it's the bandwagon opinion to say, "OMFG Chroma, more like Coma! XDDDDDDD Self Damage biggest Nerf evar! Dead Frame!!", it simply isn't the case. Chroma's completely fine and the fact that it's still so common to see people say he's dead clearly shows that very few people actually play him.
(Should I get more, I'd probably spend one on Valkyr Prime, seeing as she actually does get a lot of benefit from running all the Umbral mods. After that, probably Nezha Prime, Inaros Prime, and Nidus Prime when they come out. Maybe Frost Prime and Titania Prime if I'm feeling particularly spicy. If I'm looking at the potential FAR future, probably Garuda Prime and Gendel Prime.)
The part with Chroma was a joke
Its called "fun". I love my Titania, she's my favorite frame, but when we got that first Umbra Forma, her prime was over a year away. Khora's Prime is also years away.
Should I just hold onto that Umbra Forma for years (assuming I even play anymore at that time or that the game is still alive) or use it now and have fun?
I've considered putting it on base, but as it turned out we were close to Prime anyway.
Using Umbra Forma on a non-primed frame feels like a waste. Hell, even using it on primes feels like a waste too, because of the possibility for more Umbra frames to come :o
BTW, does somebody remembers DE saying anything about new Umbra frames, weapons?
Or Umbra Excalibro supposed to be the one and only.
Should've probably saved the one I used on Equinox instead but oh well. Good thing this update is bringing us Titania P and not Nezha P because I would've been so annoyed if I could not put one on Nezha P.
Consider this - Excalibur Umbra was a sort of 'consolation prize' for everyone that couldn't get Prime (since he's forever and ever founder exclusive).
We won't see next Umbra anytime soon.
And even if next Umbra frame comes out, it will likely come with Umbral slots already polarized (much like Excalibur).
Umbral Forma is meant for regular frames (and I count Primes amongst them) to be able to use Umbral mods with any efficiency.
Ok, i expected that much. Would be cool for Umbra to become new tier of frames, instead of 1 time exclusive though.
Hopefully there will be full set of standard Umbra mods at least. Like Umbral Redirectioin, Umbral Stretch, Umbral Streamline e.t.c. Cant wait to max the heck out of Excalibur Umbra with those.
Win-win
With 5 formans and 3 umbra mods installed i made it to 359% strength. This + sprint aura is the most agile playstlye for me in Warframe.
It is also great for Eidolons.
When it comes to leveling, the buffs help out a lot, great team support.
Fair, but the way I look at it is this: Either the item's a limited-edition, rare-as-hell commodity that should never be used on a non-permanent frame, or they're introducing them into the economy now to give those who work hard for them an edge in the opening steps of the New War - during which umbral forma will become progressively easier to obtain, at which point any value or advantage from farming them early will vanish.
In either case, short of them basically breaking a frame single-handedly, I didn't really feel like they were worth farming. Titania's also my favourite frame by far, and while I did put some effort into trying to get the first umbral forma, it was too much commitment for too little reward in a game I generally enjoy in small doses. I'll become active again to get and play with her prime when it finally releases - which, coincidentally, looks to possibly be aligning with the introduction of the first New War content - and likely soon after I'll find out if my latter initial prediction was on the mark or not. If not, too bad, I'll have to buy a few of them down the track after liquidating some vaulted prime gear. If I was right though, I'm honestly glad I didn't waste my time. Titania's already gloriously powerful without umbral forma. She doesn't really need them.
