Any theories on whereabouts the Plains of Eidolon/Cetus actually is on Earth?
And I don't mean on the star map/star chart, I mean more literally. Unless it says somewhere in-game/in-lore that I missed, have there been any guesses about where it's supposed to be based on the geography?

Guessing Italy, based on mountains, hills, water. Otherwise I dont think the game will acknowledge real world geography or nations of today.

I think with all the stuff the grineer does, the earth is pretty much screwed up. Although the plain color palette could indicate a particular biome. The Savanna is what could be possible considering how similar their color is.

biggest problem, is that we don't really know how many years are between us and the event's of the game, the tectonic plates could of shifted quite significantly and altered earth geography quite a lot

Russia, the Grineers are russians!
Lol.

The Gara lore fragments mention forests falling after she destroyed a Sentient with a bomb, so if there were enough trees for forests to be brought up, PoE may not have always been a savanna. It might have been a thick forest just like most of the other Earth nodes. It definitely looks like one now, but that might be misleading

I think it would be possible.

Even somewhere in Africa, considering what the other users said about shifting topography, time passage, etc and the color of the foliage. Seems quite sun bleached, so near Equator.

But considering on the Star Chart, the continents look pretty much identical to today, there is not much consideration of time having passed. Moreover, there are no seasons on Earth. Sadface.

The Grineer also sound a lot like the Russians in Dark sector.

I had buried the existence of that game deep in my mind

Here's a hint: Look at Earth in Navigation then compare that to a world map. The continents are pretty much the same.

Can't be Russia cause the dye trader say that powders and dyes have been imported from far avay continent of Eurasia. He does specifically say Eurasian zone, so it can be coast France or Portugal, if you stretch it.

ummmm not sure that works, tileset does not really change as you go north or south and even tho it is an abandoned Earth in a sense that it has no civilization - there would still be deserts, tundras, steppes, cold mountains etc - simply because Earth is not flat and different places get different treatment from the Sun.

So I rather think that positions of missions are for progression.

Theories could be made based on different things, like we can look on how long the days are there and easily place that in like Iceland or even more up the north as during summer they can have up to 20 hours of daylight on longest days and during winter they get like 5-6 hours of daylight so it is easy to place it there as 100:50 minutes ratio between day and night on PoE is easily put in between those in Iceland or so.

Types of trees on PoE would definitely confirm that it is far up north, just placing it in right spot is hard, like maybe Kamchatka Peninsula.

Condorc is an obvious reference to a Condor, a bird found across ameerican mountains (continent, not 'murica), so that maybe puts Alaska as a possible place, but Condors do not go that far up iirc. Tho specific conditions due to Eidolon's remains maybe could have made a good place for them.
Tho Condorc's do look like vultures to me which maybe again votes for Alaska which is on similar latitude as it is realistic they could have gotten there.

But again, day to night ratio could have been balance thingy.

You know the Ostrons walk around in simple cloaks and tunics? And birds fly around, and the sun shines, and trees grow?
