Don't kill me... but why is this game so popular?
I've played near 20 hours and I'm not really finding anything that's got me to the level of excitement i see for it when people talk about it. Yeah, the open world thing is cool, but i mean... it's not anything new.
The controls and combat feel floaty and like they have no impact.
the levels feel repetitive.
I have no idea whats going on in the story, or if there even is one.
The art design is honestly pretty ugly. Not a single warframe doesn't look like a fleshsuit. (granted, this is personal taste).
The online is ♥♥♥♥ because everyone just rushes through every level without exploring.
it takes FOREVER to get ANYTHING. Seriously I've played JRPGMMOs that aren't as stingy with rewards.

So I'm not trying to be an ass, but seriously, what is the appeal of this game? I feel like I'm missing some key ingredient or something. Feel like im missing out on something everyone else is enjoying. And i hate being that guy.

Warframe being a third-person shooter is a sandbox in a sense where you are given tools such as weapons (even creating your own custom ones), warframes, etc to be able to mod them the way you like to suit your own playstyle. There are always things to do, but generally it is up to the player to find or set a goal for themselves. Of course, given the sandbox nature of this game you can choose whichever frames and weapons you want to use for missions and the like, though keep in mind there are some things that make certain mission types easier or more bearable. Quite many frames/weapons are viable and it also depends on how you mod them (just make sure you level them up to 30 before selling anything).

It may feel like a hard thing to get into for new players because of the learning curve but just take things slow and don't be afraid to ask questions for a lot of things. It will really help you out in the end and the community will be more than happy to help you learn things as you go! You can get an idea of whether the game is for you or not after a while.

The main appeal of the game is the grind, fashion, and the ability to do whatever you want really, whether that is collecting, decking yourself out with some of the best mods, hanging out with friends, dojo/clan building, fashion, etc. Players with less than 100 hours won't really have hit the benchmark that has things opened up to them such as completing the Second Dream quest and various other things which open up so much more possibilities in general.

Later on, when you get into the game you can start making the premium currency called Platinum by selling stuff to other players which is used for slots (slots aren't capped so you can buy as much as you wish), reactors/catalysts, cosmetics, and more but there are various alert or invasion missions that popup in that you can get a lot of these things for free. Though, it isn't advised to buy any full Warframes or Weapons in the Market with Platinum because you can farm them ingame via various ways (or get their blueprints from the Market or Clan for credits) or buy currently vaulted prime warframes from other players. Achieving Mastery Rank 2 will allow you to trade at a dojo if you're in a clan that has a trading post or Maroo's Bazaar on Mars, though it is heavily advised to learn the baseline prices for things by using https://warframe.market/ (you can also use this to sell your items), but do take note that the prices listed on there are considered the BASELINE prices which are prices that are NOT set in stone, which means you can choose to set a price higher than the current offerings on the market (which is sometimes advised to do, since you can take advantage of people who sell cheap then you will eventually sell yours for a higher price than theirs).

So with that being said Warframe is NOT pay to win and is more pay to skip or achieve faster, but even IF you do buy things with platinum such as Warframes or weapons from the Market, you still need the mods to be able to actually make those useful and as a new player YOU WON'T HAVE THOSE right away. Pretty much all of the mods necessary for a lot of things can be easily farmed ingame.

Of course, early on you will WANT to learn parkour movement, so later on down the road you won't have to learn it like most people who try to do the Mastery 8 test which has some parkour to it. You can learn how to do it by reading this: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Maneuvers#Sprinting

Anyways, here is a basic progression chart for the game and which bosses drop which normal warframe parts and more. You will need to complete various junctions to be able to access new planets now and some story quests, as a new / returning player you will want to do this first along with getting mods to get you up to speed:

game is not for everyone, biggest thing I think that makes it stand apart is the gameplay.

Do you like the way combat feels? Because 90% of this game is Diablo 3rd person ninja style....so if you don't like just playing the game, then yeah, you most likely will not like it.
but the good news is, that it is F2P :)

Also, the costmetics are pretty good, not sure why you don't like them, but most people that look at it thinks it's cool. even people that don't like the game.

It's definitely not everyone's cuppa tea.

If you don't like it, you don't like it. Only you know the reason why?

I don’t know how much time I have, steam and the in game clock are inaccurate , but this is almost entirely accurate. I have seen plenty of guides virtually everywhere and this is a great summary. Sky sweeper, watch guides, watch iflynn’s guides, etc. I know so many of my friends that don’t like it because it’s too grindy. This. Game. Is. Not. For. Everyone. Know this.

After u play for a while and get to know what the game actually has to offer for a 'free' title u might feel dumb to even make this thread.

And if its not your piece of cake then I dont see the point of even making this thread? You are obv just trying to bait people. If u hate to be that guy dont be that guy.

At under 200h discovering new things should be what keeps you going but if you're already asking this at 20h then you don't clearly have the necessary desire to know more about the game. It takes a while until you get a grasp of what kind of game it truly is.

Nope. Some things are harder to get than others though. I hope you didn't decide to farm bounties to get Gara cuz it's pretty much the hardest frame to obtain currently.

Thank you for the intricate response. I don't really have time to sink 100 hours into a game i don't enjoy to get to the better part, i guess. Also if ithe fashion is the draw, i guess i'm out of the loop cause i don't think anything really looks appealing... But again, thank you for the insight! Was interesting to read and get a persprective of, at the very least.

Yeah, the combat just feels kinda stiff and basic to me, no real impact to any of the guns/melees.

As for the cosmetics, i just don't like the Organic look of everything. if there was a standard space-suit of armor, i'd totally wear it, but everyone looks like they're made out of leaves and it's weird to me. :cgrazz:

My issue with that is so many people keep trying to pull people from other games i play onto it. :/ so i tried to jump in too, but it's just nothing like destiny or other loot games. so i don't get why people keep trying to pull others to it.
