Which is the best "Summoner" Warframe?

So, i was looking forward to get into Warframe after almost 2 years and yeah, alot changed.
Some Frames got reworked and some new were added and i want to play a good "summoner" Warframe, which is still usefull with his summoning abilities.
But as far as i remember, summons were never rly good or viable - maybe that changed a bit?

Which one should i go for?

There aren't really a lot of summoner warframes, if any. The closest that comes to a summoner is Nekros - whose 4th ability allows him to summon copies of recently slain enemies. They aren't super powerful though, and I can't ever tell if they're actually doing anything when I play him. Their best use is to keep Nekros alive for longer - they draw enemy fire and with the Shield of Shadows augment they will also take a percentage of damage Nekros takes in his place (in other words, granting him damage reduction).

Not really any other frames that fit the bill besides Nekros, sorry to say. Maybe Nyx with her mind control, but that's about it really, and that's not really summoning so much as it is turning enemies against each other.

The closest you are going to get to an actually functional minion is Khora and Wukong.

You could make a case for Nyx and Revenant with their mind control abilities.

None of the frames are really minion mancers. Some have abilities that can create a summon but they are oretty poor. You would be better of with Specters.

Frame abilities tend to be of the Direct damage type or buff/debuff.

Any frame can be a summoner if you have a variety of specter items to make use of. With the larger gear wheel we recently got, you can even use ALL of them at once now.

Eh, gonna go ahead and say that is factually wrong as Nekros exists, and has for many years, with perfectly useful minions. Hell, with the right build, his 4th ability makes him one of the tankier frames in the game.

Forgot to say that id count Nyx and Revenant as summoners too - i dont rly care who fights for me, as long as i dont have to xD

However, i know about Specters but i dont rly like them.

Atlas with Golems
Chroma with his skin(?)
Equinox (Ive heared sth. about a mod that makes him/her summon the other side)
Hydroid with his tentacles
Inaros with Sand Shadows
Khora with that cat
Nekros undeads
Nidus maggots
Nyx and her mind control
Octavia and that ball
Revenants Thralls
Titanias butterflys
Wisps Reservoirs
Wukongs clone

Nyx would probably be my go-to for converting enemies to my side. There's an augment for her 1 that actually buffs your mob to not completely suck, and her 1 is always useful with utility mobs like the Ancient Healers. The rest of her kit is also decent, like using her 2 to strip armour.

Mob summoning in general isn't very powerful, though, but they are pretty good at taking hits and diverting the damage away from you. Nekros would probably be my main example for that.

Frames with specter summons tend to be decent enough, if you need extra gun firepower. Not really remarkable beyond that, though, but can be pretty cheap to cast.

Nidus His Maggots CC and explode dealing massive damage and making Nidus Stronger and it cost no energy but 3 stacks to use. which you will usually get back.

Edit: Nidus Maggots also benefit from his Stacks.

Can't rely on their summons to do everything, would not recommend if you want to play a pure summoner:

Octavia

Nidus
Inaros
Wisp

Octavia is the (only) summoner of the game. She can summon and set up a ball, that is powerful, scaling, self-suffiicient, and Octavia relies on it to do things. She is not a weak frame either. Think Torbjorn from Overwatch, except octavia's turret is mobile, immortal and has CC.

Things like Khora's kavat, Wukong's clone etc, are just skill gimmicks and do not affect the way these frames play.

Nekros

Not only summon dead - The summoned dead draw aggro regardless of how much damage they do.. so keeping them out increases survivability.

Has a Desecrate ability - this makes extra drops come from dead bodies/parts and is renowned for framing things.

Also has some handy augments and is super handy in survivals since the extra drops include air.

Does Mirage's Hall of Mirror counts as a summon? If so, I think she would be the best since it does the most damage and is the easiest to control of all the summons. Wukong being 2nd for control and Equinox for damage.

What about Revenant? Ive watched some videos and it looks rly cool how he just gets more and more slaves.
