Easiest way to get to Jueno
I have heard that Jeuno is where everything goes down, and I was hoping to find out the easiest way to get there as a beginner from Bastok

The "Easiest way", aside from Homepointing, is riding an airship... both of which you don't have access to if you're just beginning. Which leaves the only option, everyone has to do at least once: Walk. It's the hub town for the game, all players eventually get there, but there's no rush. Most of whats there, that would benefit you, won't matter til you are a little bit higher in level. But the path is N. Gustaberg to S. Gustaberg to Konschtat Highlands to Pashow Marshlands... Jueno.

Once you're about level 20, it's a more relevant place. But for the most part, it's just an easy Jump-Off spot for most players, especially High Levels who are in Endgame activities, as it has many important NPC's there for relevant activities, or transportation to said event locations.

You'll need to go to Jueno to work on obtaining your chocobo Licence (which unless that's changed like everything else, I don't think you can do til lvl20). You'll also need to do a quest to get an airship pass (or else, pay a million gil) which you can then fly from Jueno to the 3 starter cities, or to Kazham. It's funny, When I used to play regularly, Jeuno wasn't as much of a important hangout spot as it is, or as it was. Kids used to kick it in Whitegate quite a bit when ToAU was all the rave.

If you can find someone to escort you there, that will be your best shot (It was actually how I first got there when I started playing). Otherwise, just play the game and level up, you will soon have no choice but to end up in Jueno naturally!

It's easier on your XP if you try to get there on a level 1 character (though you should wait til your main job is 20, as Bacon said). That way deaths cost you nothing but pride.

If you change your job to Thief, your HUD compass shows enemies as red dots on the central radar portion. As long as you keep all enemies at the VERY edge of the radar, you won't get aggro. (Also, learning what does and doesn't aggro helps.)

Or youcould just buy a bunch of invisible powders and silent oils and keep them up full time once you reach Pashow and Rolanberry. But I'd use the level one method, it's free and helps you learn aggro avvoidance skills, something that's handy (or at least it used to be) for endgame stuff.

You don't lose xp anymore if you are under level 30, so the only thing you can lose by dying on the trip is time. Making the trip to jeuno as a low level was probably one of the first ,most memorible moments I had in FFXI.

I haven't played in 10 years but what lvl do you get to ride chocobo? 20? Shouldn't the player mount up to get to Jeuno?

You need to be 20 to ride the chocobos. Still the easiest way if you're 20 or below is to get help, usually a whm or someone else who can cast sneak and invisible on you. Or I suppose you could make use of the new Fields of Valor books and the sneak and invisible that they offer sometimes, make sure to get the reraise tho, as well.

Speaking of which, the first time I went to Jeuno was with a friend who was 20 and we had no high levels helping us, so it can be done, if you're very careful about the aggro range of the Quadavs and goblins, and the bees too lol. As I remember it, my friend died from a bee right outside Jeuno's gates. Luckily a kind soul raised him. =D

If you want to be able to ride chocobos on your first 20 tho, you will definitely need to get to Jeuno to get your license stillm as Bacon Gamer said, before that there's really no point in going there.

Easiest way is to find someone willing to escort you there who can take on the mobs on the way. I always like to try things myself to see if I can do it but there is no shame in asking for help.

Definately hit 20 before trying to get to Jeuono though.

The escort is definittely the easiest way I agree, I've done this a lot in the past when I ran an ls, and with sneak and invisible lasting much, much longer for casters, this is now a great help too.
