The only expansion I'm missing is the new one - so essentially I'd be paying for this, THEN paying again at a 25% to ALSO buy the new expansion? Not nice.
From what I remember, a code would come in each expansion box, installing new content, and also allowing you a one-time registration to play said new content.
It seems absurd to me that new players gain full access for the one-time $40, while existing players get shafted and still have to pay more. How's that for loyalty?
Maybe I'VE read it wrong as well, but it's a shame that their system doesn't allow for existing players to take advantage of a great thing here with steam. I've been questioning whether or not to re-activate and play again, once I saw this I was excited, once I read the fine print I was turned off.
:/
On a side note... :/ the steam overlay doesn't work with FFXI
As long as I can get the new content with this purchase, I'm pretty much in. I stopped playing at the launch of Wings, played a little bit of it but didn't really dive into that expansion. I pretty much played the mess out of the others (zilart, chains, toau), never got into the 'campaign's either.
I just built a new PC, and while FFXI isn't exactly a hardware pusher, it'll be nice to finally see the game 'as it's meant to be played'. (my old PC I played on was an old Dell laptop from college.... terrible).
Pretty interested. Probably going to do it with this info. Thanks!
i think that was his point. In the past you got them for 10$ just for the 1 add-on and new players would pay 20$ for all of them now there charging 40$ for everyone new and old.
His point from what i take it is Old players dont get anything anymore like a small discount on the add-on. Squear doesnt care and just charges everyone same price
Which i agree its kinda messed up they act like there so hard up for money and screw the players couse of it
there are still 20,000-25,000 players on FF11 so times that by 12-16$ for the average players and there are a lot of ppl that dual box (i do myself) so thats another 12$ for a few hundered ppl that do dual box now add that all up thats how much a month they make off a 10+ year old game
Thats not including there other games that hey bring in a good deal each month aswell also not to leave out the millions they made on expansions they have sold for 11
like for example
back when CoP came out there was a good 80,000-90,000 players back then so times that again by 10-20$ depending on if new or old players thats what they made just from 1 of the expansions
ok now do the same for ToAu and WoTg just take off about 10,000-20,000 players then again tiomes it by 10-20$ x2 1 for each expasion
ok then they added the 3 mini add-ons which were 10$ each for everyone and was no disc for them ok now back then there ws still a good 50,000-60,000 players on the game so times that by 30 (10 for each expasion)
then once again do it for abyssea now granted this time the player base droped down to what 20,000-30,000 players but still times that again by 30 (again 10 for each one)
now add all of that up thats what they made from expasions alone on this game and only this game not including all there other games which they have a monthlky fee on another one of them and they have to act like there going bankrupt?
I just purchased and it is remote installing. Time will tell I suppose. I'll let you all know!
thats what my original post was about more or less it was hard to tell if we got everything (from how they worded it on steam)
get Xfire or some game recorder and link it to steam on your profile (i know it sucks to have to install another program but that records gametime videos and screenshots for every game on your PC not just the ones suported by this and that DRM) it suports every game that can be installed on a PC
if i recall it can even launch games lol but i dont use it for that just to record my played time and it totles your time for you at the bottom like myself i have 23,758 hours played since i first started useing Xfire
ah didnt know that lol
and if you read the above post its kinda messed up they act like this considering they have made several millions off this game in the past 10+ years
