If you can't get into the launcher to do a file check, I would delete Pol and try reinstalling it. (Though Idk if thet will mess with ffxi or not.)
Copy the ROM-9, Sound-9, and mov folders to another location for temp storage. Uninstall all of FFXI and Pol, reinstall them all, and then replace those folders back into the FFXI folder appropreiately, before hitting play on the main page in Pol to update it. FFXI should then only update the missing or outdated files rather then the whole folder, saving upwards of like, 6 hours of downloading.
If you've not done so already, you could try posting to the ffxiah.com or the offical forums and see if there's any response or ideas as to what that error means.
And the reinstall should fix any registery issues.
