I freely admit, I've waited since the day this game was launched to see how long it would take for Squeenix to un-stupid and make it free-to-play so more people are more likely to join this late in.

This proves how stupid rich corporations are. They're so shallow, they just go "we'd lose money going F2P. Duh." But at 11 people X $11 a month, can $102 even cover the servers? How can this be sanely justified? I have these hazy memories of it on the PS2 that will stay way, I guess.

I think most people aren't using the steam launcher. You need to own the game and posts the search for all players to get an accurate number.

You just a broke boi that wishes to play this game. There are multiple private servers you can join if you care to find them.

i play on steam now only because my PC doesn't have drives to use my old discs.

You dont need the discs to play the non steam client....

I'd venture to guess most people use windower, ashita, ffxi client. I bought it on steam only because I left for a while and it was cheapest way to catch up as SE wasn't having a sale outside of steam at the time.
