And the dissapearing planet??
But i want Explosions....not merging planets lol.....i want to see destruction, planets collide, one explodes into more particles being cast adrift in space, the planet that sufferd the collision should also break of into pieces (depending on the side hit), or half of the planet should also crack or be destroyed or something, exposing the core of the planet which leads to over time destruction to that planet
Why cant a metior hit Africa, cause Africa to break up into more islands or something?? Now that would be BAD ASS
US² is a great tool for learning about the universe. The main goal of the simulator is not to show you expolosions and stuff. If you want explosions, go play bomberman
Lol, bomberman has pixelated explotions.....
Yes, cause when a giant metior hits earth million years from now, its gonna merge with earth and not cause more destruction than the previous metior before civilization??
ok, I'm done talking to you
Im not trolling or ranting, thought it seems that way to you.....im just stating my opinion??
You can make planets and moons eject more debris and particles by enabling "Full Body Fragmentation" under View>Simulation>Full Body Fragmentation. Turning it on will more fully fragment a body. Now, don't misunderstand, when this option is on, bodies still merge into one another, but the ejecta is much more pronouced.
I have a feeling that you won't quite be satisfied with full fragmentation. What you want is not yet possible. However, Giant Army is working on implementing something called "SPH." It stands for Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. With SPH, this will allow for much more complexity in collisions, formation of planets, stars, and pretty much everthing else I'd imagine.
Here's a video from a dev showcasing the formation of a planet core.

When this finally becomes possible for US2, things are going to be awesome. It will be a while before this happens though, as programming it to work for US2 is going to need some work.
There's actually two options of fragmentation under the Simulation tab. Its the first one near the top. Then there's one further down. The second one doesn't work, probably because its not supposed to be there. Who knows. :P
It works for me though. I actually wish it would stay on when I enable it. Every time I open another simulaition, or reload a current one, the game resets it to "Off." I actually feel like "Full Body Fragmentation" should be under the options menu, not in "Simulation."
Displacment Mapping is under Options, it would make sense to put fragmentation in there too.
I understand this is a EA game, so thats why i say im not ranting or trolling cause i understand that.
But if what you showed me in the vid is in development, then its great....i cant wait.
They have a climate scientist and physicist on the team to help them with that, which is cool. Its almost like they're developing software more than a game, considering the people they have working on it.
I think it was Greenleaf (a dev), who said that SPH can, and will happen, they just don't know when. They want it to work before US2 is updated with this new tech. GA wants to take their time to get it right, so to speak.
You can adjust the budgets in settings, by changing the amount of non attracting particles, the default is around 1024. If you increase it you can get more particles, what's a good setting for you depends on your computer, as you increase the budget, you'll get more of a performance hit.
In regards to the planetary collisions, they're very much a work in progress, and we have a lot of things planned to make them better. The whole body fragmentation is something we're working on long term, and any version you see in game right now is just a limited testing implementation. Hopefully we'll be able to return to work on that one in the near future and get it finished up.
