Universe Sandbox

Universe Sandbox

Is this game worth getting?
Now that it's on sale, I'm really thinking about buying it, but I have a few questions,

Is it really fun?

How much is there to do in this game?

Lastly, How many hours could you play this game until you get bored and never touch it again?

3 Hours.

1. Yes,

2. Tons,

3. depends on your imagination.

This is not a 'game' as such as there are no defined objectives to be met or a mission to do. Instead, you get the entire universe... in a sandbox. To play with. If you always wanted to see what happened if you, say, replaced Venus with a black hole or bombarded the Earth with asteroids or play with Jupiters' density or orbital declination, then this is for you. If you say "meh, planets are for nerds" and "I want some enemies to frag" then it isn't. Unless your enemies are planets.

Thanks for the incredibly detailed answers! I might think that I'll purchase this game :D

i would say it depens if you are that kind of person

I would say it's not a game, but in fact more an application. Extremely fun and edifying application.
If you are looking for some "cool game", better not buy US2.

It's likely that I'm that kind of person, having been working on this project for the last 10+ years. :)

Looks like you purchased it... what did you think? We love feedback, especially the constructive criticism kind.

I love the game! it's interesting, and a lot to do! at the moment I'm trying to make a planet that's somewhat habitable, like getting a 50% chance of life or greater. I think it is very good, but I do not have any feedback how to make it better as of now.

Glad to hear it. We've got some pretty major changes coming that will make that quest (or creating habitable planets) even more satisfying... can't wait to share them when they're ready.

Thanks again for the purchase.

"Fun" is not the word I would use, because it is not a game. The name describes its purpose very well. You take celestial objects and "play" with them. Create your own solar systems. Explore the complexity of unusual orbits. Crash asteroids into planets, or send planets crashing into other planets, or stars into stars. Model the accretion process. You are only limited by your own immagination.

Universe Sandbox is an N-body simulator, with a few extra perks thrown in. So if you are looking for something that will simulate Newtonian mechanics (the software does not use Einstein's General or Special Relativity theories), then this is the software for you.

Yes, this game is worth it. It has definitely taught me that I don't want to live in a solar system of my own design. But in all seriousness, I just keep coming back to it. It's cathardic.

I am planning on like, doing the things you listed but i dont say planets are for nerds, I like planets, but like, i dont know if i should get this game cause i am not that creative, when i first watched a universe sandbox video it was about terraforming planets, I thought, hey! maybe i could do that, but i dont know if i should get the game or not get it because i love space, but i dont think i am creative enough to know what to do when i play it,

This game is worth it every penny

Most would think since there isn’t objective to do, a story, characters, etc, that the asking price is too high. If you can rethink what you can do and where you can go, you might rethink that though and understand the price tag is reasonable.

If you’re more into a game with characters, a story etc, but thinking about buying it, that’s a toughie. You most likely will play less of the game. Best to avoid it. Unless you’re into everything space stuff.
