Universe Sandbox

Universe Sandbox

Requirements for VR mode?
I was planning on buying an HTC Vive but was wondering what the requirements for the VR mode in this game would be. The game seems more CPU oriented but I've always been wrong before.

As you probably know, the VR mode is a lot more demanding. It's a good idea to check out Vive's recommended specs, and you can even run their test: https://www.vive.com/us/ready/

While Universe Sandbox ² itself is more dependent on CPU, VR requires a decent GPU. Hope that helps!

I get 250fps consistently with an i5 6400 and a 1050TI. Have you guys done any tests to measure the frameloss?

While this can be a CPU intensive game, the hang up in VR is almost always the GPU. A 1050TI is below the recommended specs for VR in general, so I'm afraid you would be disappointed with performance with not only this title, but most VR titles in general.

We do regular performance tests with our VR build and the majority of the provided simulations maintain a constant 90fps on minimum spec hardware. However, as this is a sandbox game, it's possible to experience frameloss in custom simulations with a large number of objects regardless of your hardware specs.

I've usually got around 190fps during demanding parts. I might do well.

You will be able to run it, but as mentioned, you may be a bit disappointed in the performance. Again, keep in mind that VR is much more limited by GPU than the desktop version of Universe Sandbox ². So even though you may see good performance on desktop, it may struggle in VR, as the graphics card you listed is below what is recommended.

I'm fine with lowering settings down to minimum.
