Sound isn't working

I started playing this games a long time ago but recently i loaded it up played it for a while then exited. things seemed ok but when i started trying to watch videos i couldn't hear anything so i restarted my computer and it still didn't work. then my friend called me on skype and i heard that...
but it is still not working. nothing but skype works.

Sounds like a strange system issue. First, I'd recommend checking the Volume Mixer in Windows. Right-click the speaker in your system tray then click Open Volume Mixer. Maybe the settings there were changed?

You could also try running the audio troubleshooter. Click Start, type Troubleshoot, and then select Troubleshoot from the list of results. Select Playing Audio > Run the troubleshooter.

I've had this problem many times with my computer, and I would try Jar's recommendations on how to fix it, but, did you recently plug in headphones to your computer? Because that could be causing problems, sometimes it may glitch the audio of your system.
