N++

N++ is a platform video game developed by Metanet Software[www.nplusplus.org]. It is the sequel to the games N and N+, and was released on PlayStation 4 in North America on July 28, 2015, and July 29 in Europe. N++ was announced at Gamescom 2013 during Sony's PlayStation media briefing. In February 2016, Metanet developer Raigan Burns stated that they are working to bringing the title to the Steam platform for personal computers

Wait, What is N++?

N++ is a fast-paced, momentum-based platformer about darting around obstacles, narrowly evading enemies and collecting gold in a beautiful minimalist landscape. It’s the first N game on PC since 2004 and we’ve spent those 12 years perfecting the platformer, as you’ll very soon be able to see for yourself. We’re so excited to finally be bringing the series full circle — and lucky you, you get the best one:
  • 2,360 hand-made, brand new levels (that’s 100+ hours)
  • Custom Levels, Level Editor & Global Level Sharing
  • Leaderboards and replays for every level (even the ones you make)
  • Local Co-op Mode (up to 4 players)
  • Local Competitive Mode (up to 4 Players)
  • 63 tracks by top electronic artists
  • 60 color palettes to customize the game’s look
  • secrets, challenges and lots more to explore

Zooming in? = Removed

Originally posted by Metanet Software:
It would require us to build functionality to add that feature, which unfortunately is not easy. We'll think about it, and see if we can do it post-launch; for now, you'll have to just sit a bit closer to the screen ;)

PC version vs console version:
Originally posted by Metanet Software:

We learned when making N+ that having different versions of the game or different features or even different levels on each platform does nothing but confuse players, so each platform will offer an experience that is consistent, and consistently awesome :)

Yes, as DanyDanman mentioned, one of the biggest, coolest things about N++'s level sharing system is that every level made by a player, whether on PC or PS4, will be playable by every other player -- we're so happy to be able to bridge the community of players this way, and to allow everyone to see the ingenious and creative things everyone else has created! We think you'll really enjoy that :) There are some fantastic levels already out there on PS4, and on PC release day you'll be able to check them out immediately!

Why N++ was released on consoles:
The road to n++

N++ Code:
It's not human readable - but you will be able to access it. There won't be any converters built into the game

Steam Workshop Integration:
They are considering it, however N++ has its own level-sharing system.

Trading Cards:
Yes! We’re definitely planning on Trading Card support, and we love making cool backgrounds with N++ art.

Highscoring Stats:
Expensive to calculate server side, considering implementation

GoG/HumbleBundle:
Although it may be difficult, due to server-side requirements and level sharing, Metanet will be looking into it

Level sharing between platforms:
PS4 levels can be accessed from Steam, and vice versa, however highscores will not be the same between platforms.

Achievements:
Are the same like on PS4.
For now: Achievements PS4 [www.playstationtrophies.org]

System Requirements:
Windows 7, 4GB of free Disk Space. They are trying to target "relatively modest graphics cards"
It does not run under XP.
No other details are known right now.

Mac/Linux?
Right now we're just focusing on porting from PS4->Windows but we intend to then support Mac/Linux.
Update: The Mac build is currently in development, and hopefully it'll be ready for launch.

Customization Options:
Colour Schemes

Although, there won't be as many options as in N+ -- with the colour schemes it's hard to find more than a few different ninja colours that work (i.e are decently visible and match the colour scheme).

Our plan right now is to let players switch between the 4 defined ninja colours (P1-P4), but we also have additional cosmetic options that will hopefully be rolling out soon ;)

Update 2: We're trying to get it done by the end of the summer; it's not done yet but it's close, there will be some sort of beta in the next month or so :) reddit comment by Raigan Burns.

How about having an art contest and the winners can be used for the steam cards?
DanyDanman Jun 17, 2016 @ 12:25pm
Great idea!
