N++

Playing N+ again
Personally, I've had the most fun playing N+ on Xbox 360.

I thought that the multiplayer component worked very well. It was really fun just hopping in with random people to play N+ with. I miss that.

I also like how the camera followed the player and was a bit closer to the action.

In my mind, N+ reigns supreme. I really don't understand many of the design decisions for N++; they feel like total steps backwards to me, but that's just my opinion. Most egregious of all is the lack of online multiplayer. This game has such incredible potential for online multiplayer and I have never understood why it was abandoned after already being successfully implemented in N+.

In any case, I recently found out that I'm able to relive some of the fun I had with N+ by using Xenia (an Xbox 360 emulator). I can even play online with friends using Parsec. At least I have that. I just wish that N++ would've built upon N+ instead of moving the opposite direction.

Again, these are just my opinions

Hi. The development of the game was in financial distress, this is the reason why online multiplayer wasn't implemented. Needless to say, it was desired and planned, not ditched, but it just wasn't managed on time nor on budget.

That being said, you can also play online multiplayer using Parsec or Steam Play, both work great, other than the natural input lag which is to be expected. We do online races from time to time in the community, for instance. If you're not aware, the community mostly hangs in Discord, you're invited: https://discord.gg/nplusplus

In general I disagree that N++ went backwards. I'm not sure how much you've played N++, but it's orders of magnitude more polished in gameplay and more bountiful in content, it more than compensates for the deletion of a couple of enemies or tiles, which was deliberate for design and minimalism purposes (the tiles of N++ are the tiles of N, the original entry in the series).
