Room Sizes
I understand that the minimum usefull room size for most rooms is 3x3 [3x5 for Tavern].
Is there any point to extra room tiles that do not cause another prop to appear. Like a 4x4 barracks or a 6x8 tavern? I realize that Beast Pen, Treasury, and Lair are usefull for every tile laid. So I am sepcificly wondering about the rooms with 'stations' (props).

Thanks.

As far as I can tell, there's no point in building rooms in these sizes. I don't have extensive experience, though.

I kinda stick with the normal 5x5 that I used in dungeon keeper out of habit.

Maybe if props spawned along walls like in DK there would be a point, but otherwise yes it seems easy to end up with wasted space like this

in fact if i end up with a odd sized/shaped room, i have been filling in the gaps with extra lairs and treasuries, and the treasuries being so bright does beautify the dungeons somewhat i find =]

I'll just pop in to confirm that rooms (outside of Lair, Vault) do not get better without increasing their prop numbers.

A 4x4 room (not lair/vault) is no more effective than a 3x3 room (not lair/vault).

*edit*
5x5 is, by and large, the most effective room size for the majority of rooms (assuming space is somewhat limited). These are the rooms you want to priotize / the kinds of minions you most want to attract to your dungeon.

It helps that we span GMT-8 (me) to GMT+8 (Jack [VFX]) and GMT+12 (Dante [audio]) in terms of timezones.

We're always watching.

I see you picking your nose there, Underlord.

Super - thanks for that confirmation. Just downloaded and played straight through to end of Level 4 (had the FPS/crash issue at the end, but I had it running number of hours and did task to browsers so I didn't think more of it).

Really loving it, it's everything I remember DK/2 to be but shinier and a lot less random in troop movements. I see people complaining that DK2 was better for blah blah but I'm just thinking "hang on, do you really remember what DK2 was like or just hanging onto nostalgia which had lower expectations?".

My real question is when will Bruce Willis make a decent Die Hard movie again? The last two were kind of bad... just sayin'

if you have a 3x4, 4x4 or 5x4 ara for a room, just build a 3x3 or 3x5 sized room and use the spare space to put vault or lair, or something
