Nvidia DSR not working [SOLVED].
Hi,

I normally use DSR in games as a way to sharpen the image - so I can have 4k style detail on a 1080p monitor. Unfortunately with WftO it does not work - the higher resolution options are there in the game menu, but picking them doesn't change the game resolution above my native 1080p (although the game video options does state the higher res as if it is selected and working).

I'm sure in the past (well over a year ago) DSR did work with this game - I can remember using it, so maybe some changes and patches have broken it... was there a change of graphics engine at some point in development or something?

In fact it feels like the game isn't running in 'true' Fullscreen even when fullscreen is selected (more like a borderless window), and since true fullscreen is a requirement for DSR that might explain it.

I have tried changing my desktop resolution to 4k before running the game as this sometimes fixes this kind of issue in other games (they like to use the desktop res) but in WftO it didn't make any difference. I also checked the games Options.txt file but it was already set to 4k in there (since that's what I had selected in the game), but it definitely isn't actually running at higher than my native resolution - I know this for certain.

This isn't a crucial issue of course, but I would really like it if the devs could take a look at it (I know you guys are great from past experience you see)..

Thank you very much for continuing to support this awesome game.

The game is indeed running in borderless window mode even when "fullscreen" is selected. That's likely your issue. I'm pretty sure there is a command you can add to the launch options to force fullscreen mode rather than borderless window but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you - this has fixed the problem and DSR is working fine. The game looks really nice now.

Also it seems to have helped smooth out the frame rate drops - when scrolling across the dungeon the frame rate would often drop down quite a lot, and then a couple of seconds after stopping scrolling it would ‘settle’ and return to normal. Using true full screen seems to have removed those drops in frame rate.

Is there a reason why the game isn’t set to use this true full screen mode by default? I think it would help fix some of the performance issues people have.

Thanks for the help.
