You have to build your Dungeon, means dig out an area, claim the area, build rooms. You have to fullfill objectives or defeat your opponent/empire.
Potions, Defences, Constructs and Rituals are very usefull for that.
What I can tell, the release of this game was bad (Buggy, unpolished, etc.), so an old review can be misleading. Now the Dev's improved it, polished it and optimized it as good as possible from what they started.
That's the lasted review I could find on YT so far.

It contains:
The Main campaign is challanging, for some too hard, for some easy going.
Heart of Gold DLC is slow Paced, but for that the force you have to face is stronger (has some challanging Achivements).
My Pet Dungeon DLC is a Sandbox Game, which is for relaxing, I would say.
There's also the Curcible, which is a quite hard one, if you want to reach Wave +75.
There's also the Map Editor & Steam Workshop, where the community creates Maps and for you to create your own Map to share it with the Community. (Side Note: Will be enhanced with the comming 2.0 Patch)
There's also another DLC on it's way.
Simple Skirmish mode where you fight against the AI (AI will get an Overhaul).
And there's Multiplayer, but it just has a small community and no dedicated servers, so you have arange a Match to play it in MP. I mainly play WFTO in MP (most fun for me, spend like 700 hours in MP ^^').
DLC means you have to buy it, the rest is included in the main game
If it will be worth for you, I can't tell, what I can tell, it was toally worth for me (over 1k playtime :P)
Btw, The Dev's are cool guys, they keep in touch with the community personally and are my Fav' Indie Dev Team, because they Implemeneted so much, what the Community ask for, would totally support them.
So my Personal Opinion won't be helpfull there, but I will link you some Threads, where some Users compair it.
Is there any bugs left that would ruin the game play as far as anyone knows? Also does the base game have enough to keep you playing for awhile or is the DLC needed for that?
I'd say that the main campaign is a bit short for long-time Dungeon keeper players, but if you're new to the genre, it should keep you busy for a while.
I have not played this game yet.. But it is dungoen keeper reboot..
dungeons II is a completely different game than dungeons 1, first off. The first i really enjoyed. the Second i bought, but have not played much but they went from luring in heroes to your dungeon, to building a dungeon to wage war on the over world.
This game is a more of a management type of game. I can't really say more than that.. You could like 1, or 2, or all three.. You might not like any.. :)
Well worth buying!
I was heavily addicted to the game before real life swallowed me up, I think I'm really close to beating it. While playing it back... hmm... November of 2016 I think... of any bugs I experienced I was able to play around them. Definitely not game breaking.
Any annoyances I had or help I needed this forum was great, I think a dev lurks here too.
Also a patch might have come out since I was playing.
Overall I really, really liked the game but I think I would like it more if a lot of the game didn't feel like it was out of my grasp. Sometimes my minions don't exactly do what I need them to do, sometimes things aren't made despite having a full host of creatures 'making' things, etc., etc. I'd say I give it an 85% overall... maybe higher during my addiction period.
My "Job" is to break the game, which is now not that easy anymore.
Most gamebreaking bugs we reseaved are because the Hardware can't handle the game, or that many minions. The rest is fixed, what I've seen (If you compair it to the release date, it's totally playbale, and bugs won't kick you off)
For many bugs ,which is very unlikly the Dev's can fix because Unity is causing troubles, they offere solutiuons and work arounds for that.
I know the game pretty good and if your PC can handle the game, I don't think you will encaunter any bugs, IF you should, please report them via UserEcho and it wil get fixed.
