What's the point of Regular/"Deep" Cultivation?
I'm not new to farming simulator, but I guess I haven't spent as much time with it since the introduction of stones in either 19 or 22. I'm struggling to understand the purpose of using a regular/deep cultivator instead of just always plowing or using a shallow cultivator.

Plow: small stones, zero weeds, slow
Shallow cultivation: no stones, more weeds, average/fast speed
Deep cultivation: medium/large stones, weeds, average fast speed

So with deep cultivation, I still have weeds, AND I need a stone picker instead of just being able to roll the stones back in like with a plow.

I still plow every few plantings for the bonus, otherwise I just use my Amazone cultivator set to shallow and then use a weeder after the first growth stage. I'm debating upgrading my tractor engine and getting a bigger plow and just using that every time.

Either way, though, what does deep cultivation get you that you can't do better some other way?

You sure, that you have weeds with deep cultivation?

I just did shallow yesterday and definitely got no stones but had to weed during the first growth stage.

Over the weekend, I set my cultivator to shallow, but then handed the job to the AI, and based on the appearance of medium and large stones I assume it reset it to deep. I did not have a chance to weed before logging off, but as people were still on the server, when I came back yesterday there were weeds in the fields. I couldn't answer the amount, just that there were weeds at all.

I have also been trying to figure it out via the Academy: https://www.farming-simulator.com/newsArticle.php?&news_id=294 but I think that's outdated/from 22, as it says cultivators dig up small stones when they very clearly do not. The in-game help isn't as descriptive, but it does say cultivators dig up larger stones, so that tracks.

Bump?

You know don't have to wait for weeds to show up to use the weeder, right? As soon as you're done planting, run the weeder and you will never get weeds.

In game, the difference in shallow and deep really isn't noticeable. I play with stones turned off since they are still bugged, and they only gave us a single stone picker....

But deep cultivator basically does as you describe, you get more stones instead of weeds, the shallow gets you more stones and less weeds. If you prefer to pick up stones, go with the deeper, if you prefer to remove weeds, go with the shallow.

There is a lot they could do with it in game that they have not...and may never.

I think I either completely bungled my test, or I had a momentary glitch, but since I made this post it's had a more distinct difference.

Deep cultivating gives small stones (I may have had stones already in the OP, and it turns out it's additive), and "normal" weeds that can be removed with a regular weeder.

Shallow cultivating gives no stones, but additional weeds. These weeds cannot all be removed by a regular weeder, you need at least a hoe to remove these "partial" weeds.

This is good to know, so the weeder option for one of the seeders/planters should work, then.

Hope you meant Shallow gives NO stones. Only plowing and Deep dig up stones. (And one of the strange wide "plows" that looks more like a cultivator but is classes as plow in store) dig up Small stones, and leave the field looking like its cultivated .
