Rice Farming - Flooding - Button Is disabled
The water pumps on my rice fields are not working. There are two buttons, EMPTY and FLOOD, but both are greyed out and unclickable. Not sure what Im doing wrong.

the flood button is disabled if the field does not need to be flooded. Rice only needs to be flooded for planting, and 2 months after. Then 1 month after and for harvest it doesn't need flooding and the pump won't let you.

I haven't done enough with rice to say for sure but from what I have gathered from videos, you can only fill at certain field states and the different rice are planted differently. One uses saplings and the other is seeded. Using saplings the field is flooded before planting and the other is flooded after. might take one growth cycle to get the pump option. good luck!

saplings is for 'rice' and seeds is for 'long rice'. 'rice' needs to be planted in flood field, 'long rice' does not.

depending on rice type
regular rice with the special planter needs to be cultivated, flooded, then planted
long grain rice gets cultivated, planted with a regular seeder, grow to first stage, then flood.

it looks like you have to turn the pumps on 3 times, including initial flooding, throughout the growing cycle. Just check once a day.

Don't worry about flooding at the wrong time. The game is very generous and won't let players flood if the field doesn't need it. That means you don't have to memorize when to flood, you just need to click on every pump every day and if it tells you the water level is too low, you flood it. This gets annoying though if you have many rice fields.
