How does the farmer's kiosk work?
According to the previews, "farm shops can only make profits if they have stuff to sell.", referring to the farmer's kiosk I can put on my map. The previews describe the kiosk as functioning like a shop. I put my produce on the selling point, the produce appears on the boxes and baskets, then presumably the kiosk generates money as NPCs buy the produce until it runs out and I need to put in some more.

In the game, a wide variety of products can be sold at the kiosk but when I put them on the selling point, it is sold instantly. Only a few types of products (most of them from greenhouses) will appear in the boxes and baskets, but when I save, exit the game then load that save later, the kiosk is empty.

What's the point of having products appear on the kiosk if I instantly get money from selling it? For decoration? Will the kiosk automatically generate money (in addition to the money I get for putting the goods into the selling point) as long as there's products in it, like the preview says? Does that mean the items in the boxes and baskets will gradually disappear as time passes, indicating that customers are buying them? But what's the point of fully stocking the kiosk if the products all disappear when I save and exit?

Either I'm doing something wrong or the preview lied to us.

is the only point of the kiosk convenience? can build it closer to your farm?

Basically. It's merely a regular sell point with some aesthetics, until your reload your game it seems.

Only a few specific products will appear in the kiosk when sold there, despite players being able to sell a lot of different products. Try to sell anything other than those few products and it will disappear, you get paid like any other selling point, and that's it. The fact that the items don't even stay in the kiosk when I exit the game makes this even worse.

The kiosks aren't some minor quality of life addition. They were prominently announced in the previews before the game came out. There are Youtube videos talking about it, and Reddit posts responding to the previews by discussing how the kiosks will work (eg. do I need to hire a cashier or manually do it, will I see customers visit the kiosk, etc?) so clearly some FS players were fascinated by the idea. I was definitely looking forward to trying it out once I earned enough money to at least buy the small kiosk.

And then we get this. A placeable selling point that we can temporarily decorate. Not what the previews described at all.

Not even that.
We sold flour, canola oil, honey, eggs to it and its empty permanent. No changes in visual.

Honestly feeling same way. I started around FS15 or earlier and been loyal fan since. Normally I wait year or so for a game to release and get it on sales. This time I bought it day one with the season pass... and am starting to regret it.

This is somewhat related: remember the previews showing the Farmer's Market and telling us that the goods we sell there will appear on the shelves? Unlike the kiosk, the market actually can display any product we sell there. Even if it's just a decoration, it still feels like we are contributing to the city by supplying the market with produce. Too bad the goods disappear when I save, exit then load the game just like with the kiosk.

I hope this is a bug that they will eventually fix, and not "This is how the devs intended it. The products are meant to only appear for the current session." The Farmer's Market is another big new feature prominently shown in previews that doesn't meet expectations.

Ya starting to enjoy the game more as get used to certain things. Was for while starting to regret it mostly due to AI and cost of game. But now I am hoping for the patches to come. Lot of potential if they go with it..

What's the math involved with selling a pallet of goods from a greenhouse at a farmer's market versus just selling it from the production menu?

If you mean autoselling fomr production, you'll get a 10% cut as "transport fees".
There should already be a "fixed production selling price" mod somewhere.
