Absolutely this, the Easy Controls mode merges different functions into one control, which is only helpful if that's what you want. I'm using an old flight yoke and it has enough controls to do almost all of the movements, setting it up was a pain, and it's still going to take me time to remember everything and which direction of the axis I need to move to do the thing I want, but it's made it possible.
I do get what your saying , but having used excavators in real life... This game just messes with my head. Having a selection to invert an individual control axis would help a lot, to try and keep things as close as possible to real life.
Actually I should add, I am using a combination of hotas and or xbox controller.
I could employ two joysticks to be realistic, but that wouldn't work for my current sim rig set up, so in a way i could make it better, but still individual inversion selections on axis would help
Why the inversion? pull back to go up push forward to go down, Not up to go up an down to go down that's wrong
if only they would use real 2 stick controls. that constant hold shoulder buttons is super confusing.
And I do use cranes and excavators in real life so I know how they work.
This would be awesome honestly, but make the price of tree removal be somewhat costly I'd say so it wouldn't be an absolute breeze to deforest entire areas and turn it into a field.
On that note, I had a similar experience to OP in my journey to clear out the trees behind the starting cow pasture...trying to deal with the super massive trunks of the american elm, boxelder, and oak trees, etc. was an absolute slog due to how time consuming chopping them up enough to even fit in the mulcher was...let alone a lot of the trees would constantly bug and have invisible hitboxes still of removed limbs, making putting them into the mulcher a nightmare.
I eventually gave up and got super strength so I could forcefully clip the massive trunks into the mulchers hitbox for mulching by force, physics craziness aside.
Took me pretty much a day and a half of mostly focusing on it to remove just about 20 trees...and not a small portion of that was wasted trying to grind the stumps that just absolutely refused to be removed due to some hitbox issue.
Its really stupid you have to hold the shoulders to use any "cranes". When you switch to the "cranes" it should take over the controls so you only have to move the sticks (and use shoulder if / when you need a tad of control on the vehicle).
And to be fair, you only really need One stick for movements, and a button for open/close the grab. You could even use d-pad for extend / retract boom.
THIS!
It's funny how they made attachments snap to a vehicle, while for loose logs there's no snapping. Not even for pallets.
It's already there, but GIANTS didn't use the computer code for those.
