Forestry is miserable
Just spent 7 hours trying to expand field 1 by cutting down trees and using the chipper. It was a terrible experience.

Want me to make a video to proove you that you just bad and the new physic is fine?
Make as many videos you want. Physics is broken as it was in all the previous FS.

Yeah this is the biggest problem in FS 25 to me. The chainsaws hardly work now! Its like impossible to trim trees anymore and most of the trees on the three maps are the wrong kind to boot! The started sawmill is great but everything else about forestry sucks!

Please come and save us Lumberjack mod and auto load trailers!

Only issue I've really had so far is tree trimming with a chainsaw is a joke now compared to fs22. I'll do forestry eventually when I can afford the large machines that do it automatically but just trying to clear some room on the starter farm is a pain. I basically just placed a sell point right next to the felled trees so I could just push them into the point with a tractor.

What I did was I would get the blue log trailer, but I customize it leaving off the crane so it is only the trailer. I then get the log grabber for my front loader which, for me, works so much better. Not perfect, but better than the crane. Some people are good at using the crane. i'm not, unfortunately.

It is still a bit frustrating at the times my log falls into the ground and disappears.

When is the Lumberjack Mod coming back? :steamhappy:

I bought the winch in the store that attaches to the back of your tractor and has a cable on it. I just cut down the tree, attach the cable to it, pull it close to the back of the tractor then drag it to the starter sawmill. Drag it to the trigger and the whole tree goes poof! Still can't wait for the lumberjack mod and autoload trailers though.

This, I really like FS25 but no one can tell me they changed the physics. No full stop its the same period.

Logs and "chipper" behaves the same as in FS19. Gets stuck in godknowswhat, drops IN ground and wiggle around, Bugs out log-claws and after non of the logs can be used for anything. "chipper" the logs fall straight through the very short "loading ramp", gets yeeted out if in a SLIGHT angle, lots of graphical / audio visual glitches where non "chipping" is done on may logs (they do get chipped though).
The Winch is also heavily nerfed! from the mod they "took" it from.
etc etc
I didn't bother with a crane. A chainsaw and my own hands are faster and cheaper. The chipper doesn't care either way.

It tooke me several houres to get used to the controls. But yeah there is something with the physics that i don't experienced in FS17. When cutting a tree, some wood is underground, crane can strangle itself out of nowhere....

Maybe not all aspects of woodworking have improved, But after 6 hrs an 540k in the bank something is definitely better otherwise i wouldn't do it, It's as simple as that.
Marionette Nov 15, 2024 @ 5:04pm
Crane control is exactly the same as it has ever been.
CaveMonkey Nov 15, 2024 @ 5:43pm
Honestly...the physics have not changed and when logging was added in 2015 without mods it was a total disaster...So most of us adapted and made the best out of it. It's now a "skill Issue".
