because preferably I'd like to get the fert bonus for post-harvest grass rolling since its basically free, just worried that causes the issue lol
So I think somehow only that save file is bugged.
I tested your theory and after mowing again I let it grow once naturally, and it was fine. However, after the next harvest I rolled some and not other parts of the field, just regular solid fertilizer. No dice, still didn't work. So I said screw it, tried a new save with a random field, I tried rolling after mowing, and replanting with the roller or not rolling at all. All three regrew, so I can only assume it's my save game that is f*cked, shame too bc it was my first game created on 25, but oh well. Thanks again for the help bc I didn't think to even try that, Hopefully, I just don't run into this again
well according to the older games and their help menu to get 100% you use a grass roller and it rolls the cut grass just like a mulcher, but it's supposed to re-grow after like normal grass if it wasn't rolled. The whole point being you can get 100% fertilization on every harvest, and 1/2 fertilizer stages does have quite an impact
to get 100% bonus
3 methods.
1. Lime/Plow method
a) Lime
b) Fertilize
c) Mulch
d) Plow
e) Seed/plant
f) Roll
g) Fertilize
2. Cultivate/Seed method
a) Fert
b) Mulch
c) Cultivate
d) Seed/plant
e) Roll
f) Fert
g) Weed
3. Direct Drill method
a) Fert
b) Mulch
c) Drill seed
d) Roll
e) Weed
no offense, but I know how to get 100% yield. I just meant for grass specifically if you set it up correctly in the beginning the next harvest should just need a roll with the grass roller to get 100% fertilization not 100% yield exactly. Strictly speaking about fertilization that should be all you need since it retains 50% if planted correctly. (at least it always has done for me)
so use a mulcher on the harvested grass and it works the same as the grass roller essentially?
I brought this same method to FS25, and the grass was visibly rolled back into the field. The field info box even says fertilization went from 50% to 100%. So it must have the same effect right? Well, my grass hasn't regrown for months....
I haven't gotten the chance to test the mulcher theory yet in my bugged game but i will tomorrow and I'll let you know.
it also seems to not affect fields that start planted with grass bc when i tested those, mulcher and grass roller both regrew so idk.
This worked actually. Mulching with the soil cultivation category forced my grass to start growing again. Thanks
no offense but the whole point here is that grass doesnt require you to spend the money for fertilization equipment or solid/liquid fertilizer to get the 2nd 50% stage of fertilization on any harvest of it after the initial one. Sure you can use regular fertilizer to get the 2nd stage but it's wasted money based on the in-game function of grass.
Also, this is different than the regular 5% rolling bonus on normal crops that have to be planted every time.
Obviously we can continue no problem and still get a good yield, but we tried for the ideal 100% and clearly ran into this issue. Like any new game with bugs I posted this to find help myself or help others either find a work around or solution.
@OP
I found out you don't need to roll it with the grass roller. I tried once to use the weeder on the grass-field because we did not have the grass roller. It too ads 50% to the fertilized status plus does not reset the growth state.
