Edit: while I've only got a couple of hrs so far (in part due to a delay sorting out a game launch problem) at first glance I am inclined to agree with you. So far I get the impression '25 is at least as big an improvement over '22 as '22 was over '19. If that's not enough for some folks, they could always show some restraint and skip a version. (Seriously folks, that IS an option.)
I had a simular issue i had taken a job for farming Raps then lader whilst working on it i took an other job for Raps too it counted the deliverd Raps from one field to an other and vise versa
1) As someone who has mostly enjoyed logging in all their previous titles from FS17, 19 and 22, is there any improvement to the sound design whatsoever when it comes to logging?
The lack of improvement of the sound design surrounding logging has been really disappointing in their previous titles. Put on any irl forestry video and listen to the sounds of machines traversing the terrain, or the sounds when handling the trees and logs. In their previous titles there are very few sounds that makes this bit of the game immersive imo, like sounds from log collisions..
3) I've always enjoyed this bit in their previous titles.. -But the logs felt pretty much weightless, and there could be some bouncing around. Good to hear it's been improved upon.. Still, I'm guessing there's need for mods like the VCM( or A?), vehicle control mod/assist?
I wasted so many hours on their games and it wasn't until probably several hundred hours on FS22 that I realized there had to be a mod to stop the articulated vehicles from snapping back to the middle when letting go of the steering..
Both the VCA mod and the Wood Harvester Control mod were huge game changers, and it's mind boggling that Giants wouldn't make a bigger effort to implement these features in their previous titles.
Also the disappointing control schemes for vehicles that use dual joysticks, like the wood harvesters (and excavators) for the analogue controllers. You have two joysticks on xbox/ps controllers, but instead of utilizing this, they hide the control surfaces behind three different button combinations + one joystick, R1/L1/R1+L1.. I've spent so much time figuring out a decent mapping for most other features when utilizing the dual joysticks on analogue controllers. Disappointing that Giants only offers one size fits all when it comes to control schemes.
Tree or wood in general weight more.Remember the moon like physic we had in previous game....well in f25 it is FAR better but its not perfect tho.Cutting tree with a chainsaw is kinda same as before but cleaning it can be challanging sometime because the game is not optimized and some branch hit box can be tricky to hit.Loading wood using articulated arm is SO MUCH BETTER and i am not kidding. Its so easy now lol and you don't have to use the previous game trick to make sure the wood stay in place in the truck or trailer....unless you overload it.Using other wood vehicul is much much better too.Wood seems to stick together when you grab it now.90% of the time the fact that wood stick together feel really natural and immersive but its not perfect and sometime odds things can happen but not in the scale of previous game.An example, using arm and loading a trailer would take me around 30m in f22.In f25 loading the truck + trailer in contract take me around 5 to 10m.
Overall they added or updated every sound ingame. There a lot of new sound that are not soo important but they added to make it more real which is really nice.About the controller i cannot help on this since i play the game using keyboard+mouse or g29+farmer pad.I did not had any problem rebinding keys but i saw several post about it and people were having hard time remapping keys.So in this case i assume that you should expect to have some problem and if you don't well good!
In conclusion, the logging part of the game in my opinion share the update they did with the whole game with the new physics, new sound and all the new stuff added. They added several new factory too and you an produce your own material now to build stuff. Some building require player to drop a plan on the ground and bring all the mats in order to build it.So in a way they expanded logging in f25.
Verdict:you can expect a much better logging experience but keep in mind that its not perfect and depending of the device you use to control stuff its can change.I am pretty sure you will appreciate it.In doubt look at video and look at video of people who are experienced logger ingame....Some are claiming everything is bugged but they clearly don't have to experience from the past game....tips here:if you use articulate arm...stay in first view,it will make your live easier.
D3st
Appreciate your thorough answer, thanks!
Yeah, the problem I had when remapping keys in their previous title, was that it took a long time figuring out a decent control scheme for driving and camera control when using both joysticks on the controller for the articulated arms, and also that I couldn't remap the modifier buttons R1(RT)&L2(LT).. Also had a bug in the wheel loaders where the arm would stop working when using the remapped camera controls.
-But yeah, might have to test it out at some point. Seeing I got 600 hours out of FS22, I think it's fairly cheap when you compare what you pay to how many hours of playtime you get.
Thanks again, D3st!
and some content that will come eventually
Sure on day 1 when I started playing I wasn't impressed at all, and if I wrote a review then I would have put it right down into the thumbs down category...
However now I have put a few more hours into the game and starting to see at least community fixes to problems I was having - I remember in FS22 (which I was way more excited for in the first place) there were issues that just had to be "dealt with" the shader cache being the biggest fault, the amount of threads of "I am getting stuttering on my 64core cpu @ 11.8GHz and my 256GB DDR7 RAM and 64GB 7090ti super that can play Microsoft Flight Simulator at 8k 200fps what gives" when really its just the shader cache needs time to do its thing (yes a slight over exaggeration but it really makes no difference).
As i sort of brushed upon I wasn't totally sold on this version, FS22 has been great to me, I have enjoyed it, still do, and just ended up buying it on a whim, I suppose FOMO kicked in (do people still use that phrase today?)
I am still not ready to give my actual review on the game, I know my thumbs up or down at this stage won't really make a difference, I would rather my review be truthful from MY OWN experiences. I haven't really done a lot in the game, despite my play time.
I am really waiting for some more QoL mods to come out, along with some new maps. I might even give creating my own map a go one day.
