Collectors Edition Steam Key Question - Will steer my purchase direction

Hey gang, I am looking for a concrete information that will hopefully help me to make my purchase.

I am very interested in purchasing the Collectors Edition for a couple reasons alone. I want the USB Ignition Lock (will be fun starting my vehicles in Star Citizen with it). I also want the New Holland CR11 Gold Edition.

Those are the only real reasons I want the collectors edition.

From looking closely at the picture of what is included in the Collectors Edition I have been able to determine that the game itself and the MacDon Pack will come on both DVD and Digital Download.

What I have not been able to find out anywhere is what site the Digital Download is for. Is it a Steam digital Download, or is it for some other game hosting site?

I have almost all my games on Steam and this is where I want FS25 to be as well. IF the Collectors Edition doesn't have a Steam key then I am forced to strongly reconsider if I will buy the CE or if I will just wait and buy the basic version being sold on Steam.

I own FS17 on Steam and I notice they sell a digital Collectors edition upgrade on their main website https://www.farming-simulator.com/dlc-detail.php?dlc_id=fs17ce and below it says

"The downloadable in-game vehicles are compatible with the Windows version (incl. Steam) and Mac OS X version (incl. Mac App Store) of Farming Simulator 17."

If I will be able to do the same thing with FS25 and get the New Holland CR11 Gold Edition with that update it will leave me where I only missed out on the USB Ignition Lock which would suck, but at least I would not totally miss out on what I had originally wanted.

So, after the TLDR above, does the Collectors Edition of FS25 come with a Steam Key or will one be provided after the purchase?

The collectors edition is not steam. I believe it comes with a giant's download key.

Is this the same for the physical version of the Collectors Edition as the digital and do we have any confirmation?

FS25 key bought on Giants Store, can not be activated on Steam.

Thanks for the feedback, but I am not asking about the purchases on the Giants store. I am asking about the retail store purchased collectors box set with physical items.

If Giants wanted to charge more for the box set and include a steam key I would pay it. If I have to use the Giants store or distribution method I will not buy from them. I have heard that their direct sales can only be installed up to 5 times before you can never install it again. I have uninstalled and re-installed FS17 at least that many times in the last 2 years alone so that's a Giants store deal breaker for me.

The product key will most likely NOT work with steam. It did not with the earlier games. It's same with most games but I know it works for some physical copies.

You can use the code to download it from official FS webpage though and add it as a non-steam game and start it from steam, but in-game overlay and steam update would most likely not be supported that way.

If it has not changed, you can contact giants to unlock it again if it has been locked.

Oh, I was not aware of this. I was also going to purchase the physical collectors edition, from Amazon, but if it does't come with a steam key then I will be cancelling my order and just get it on Steam. I need the steam version so I can play it on the Steam Deck at work, without some big work around.

Yeh, I wanted that as well. I ended up refunding my purchase as the pre-order stuff without the collectors edition just felt weak. I guess we will see if they are ready to sell a steam collectors edition when they make FS 27 (shrug).
