Yes spraying will give a yield penalty.
With medium weeds you need an hoe, vanilla have only one, and it's pretty big if you're short of space, maybe there are some smaller in the modhub.
I usually keep weeds off, since plowing make them pretty much an extra voice in the menu never to be seen, no point in keeping them on.
I believe Illgib's correct. The incentive is to get them early. Where as with Precision Farming, spraying is the correct way, because you take an Eco Score hit for using a weeder/hoe.
When you say hoe...is that considered a weeder...correct? I can check in game, but currently not in the game.
A weeder will only get small weeds. A hoe will get both small and medium weeds. Only herbicide will kill the large weeds.
