Some people have posted a fix to this. Wish I knew what it was now.
This same can be observed with the rice harvester Iseki HJ6130 - i.e. from stand-still then pressing A or D, it will start moving and turning.
I think this is "by design" for how these kind of vehicles behave, due to their unique propulsion & steering setup.
The Vermeer does not have 'dedicated steering wheels'. Instead it uses its drive-wheels for turning also, so that could explain why it starts moving when player gives input to turn, with whatever input-device the player is using for such action (keyboard, mouse, wheel, joystick, gamepad ...)
