If you have to pay to download it's against Giants and every common sense rule, and shouldn't had to.
And i'm a modder aswell, but i would never make people pay to download a mod.
Donations are something else.

Anyone that charges money for mod content is an A-hole. Donations are fine, if that is your thing. But paywall content a douche move.

ive noticed alot of modders from 22 that made great maps are releasing what i call pay to play maps. Is this the new way we have to get maps?

To me, it sounds like you are the author and trying to get people spend money.

Why pay for a map, when there's literally coming in the next month at leaset 10 of the most famous fm maps, free? no point.

I don't know why people get mad when a modder tries to monetise their work. If you don't want to pay them, don't. It's not up to others what anyone does with their money and their time.

If you think it's 'illegal', report to Giants, it's their problem. I doubt they'd have much of an issue, good maps add value to their product.

It's not wrong being payd or monetize for the work, it's morally and legally wrong to charge money for a mod, when Giants itself said it's illegal, and no one should be ok with it.

They are selling non legal dlcs.

Well, it'd probably put before a judge as a breach of their end user license agreement, if it came to that. Maybe also toss in something about copyrights and derivative works.

'morally' wrong, I can only lol at that. Says who? Morals is another way of saying 'Unless you have my personal approval, you cannot do that.'

'Legally' is Giants problem. The day I police fellow gamers on behalf of multi-million dollar corporations is the day I quit gaming. In my view, it's a simple IP/copyright infringement - if even that could be proven.

Next thing you know, we'll be pulling tractors over in multiplayer because they didn't use their indicator.

I personally report to Giants any mod i see that is not released for free, including the one on this post now. Because, as i said, it's in the TOS that they forbid it.

And you totally wrong, they have much of an issue because modders use their editor to monetize, that's simply unacceptable for them

Said the one that advertise his own maps and try to sell content, that is not allowed to be sold. That now, is very sad, much worse than my "sorry life" ((btw: married with a wonderful woman, 2 kids, much over the average income, healthy, you can only wish you got a sorry life like mine)
